Nature is where all emerge and where all will return.
400 years ago, Calathea was a wild and wondrous place. The creatures of the world revered and honored nature, understanding that they all came from the dirt and to the dirt they would return. Magic flowed through every river, tree, and rock and those who understood how to manipulate it for their own use could move mountains.
But greed and power are seductive things. Others discovered ways to tap into magics that didn't pull from the world and her gifts. They found ways to pull magic from their blood, powerful creatures, and their minds. No longer wanting to be bound by the confines of nature, viewing it as trivial and beneath them, they rose up with force and violence.
It is now the 300th anniversary of that uprising, In the Era of the Great Arcana.
