The Hairpin
The witches hold their braids together with a hairpin or a set of hairpins. The significance oif the hairpin is to help witches recognise each others rank and stature, their Wiccan specialtys and leyline cnnection. The fine details in the hairpin and braids are like a map of the witch. The type of material that makes the components is also important and adds to the specialty of magic used by the witch.
Every witch has a hairpin as formal item of identification and importance. They can use it during spell casting to focus their magic on the point. (now you know what they ment with pinpointing)
A witch selects her hairpin on inner thoughts, feeling and paranormal sight. Some say they are guided. No with uses her normal eyesight but the 'third eye' to determin true value. They do not know what kind of hairpin, material and attachments they will get. There is no choice, its one taken while other witches are watching. Jewels are are selected in the same way, but they are choosen.
Components
There are four parts or attachments to each hairpin: the cap, that keeps the pin safe. the pin itself (be it wide and muliple pins in a row or one long single pin), the sleek, that connects the pin to the hair braid with a top part called the spider. It has nothing to do with spiders, but its called that way becasue the shape is ment to hold one or more jewels. Every jewel has special powers and intended to help the witch to channel certain elements in her magic. This is also why the main component in material is important. Multiple pins are also possible. making more complex combinations of materials possible. Witches can change their hairpins when they become better in their Wicca. The slection is an urge they need to fullfill. sometimes their Wicca demands a better conduit.
The Braid
A very intricate way of making a complex hairset, is what describes the qualitys in a diferent way. Greater magical activities will change the details in the attachments of the braid. . the more complex the better. The complexity has also to do with the smaller details like beads, strands of material and other colorful little attachments that are braided in the hair. The magical components make visual shapes in a complexity possible that shows the power of a witch to other witches. She does not have to do it all by herself, other people may help, and there is magic that makes it possible to show off. The highest rated witches have very intricate and complex hairstyles. they need long hair to do so. thats why they have long strands of hair.
