Nucriestan
Land of Bandits and Sand
If any nation could be described as a bandit Kingdom, Nucriestan would be it. The main trade roads south from The Southern Union pass through the Eucrus Desert here, a barren land, some of which has not seen rain in over four thousand years. Eshchewing coastal settlements, what little civilization there is in Nucriestan hugs these trade roads, leaving the rest of the large nation to the mercy of Bandits and Thieves. Any who stray from the main roads are at their mercy. The town themselves are far from crime free, with the ruling Burghers concentrating on making gold from passing caravans and little else.
It is said that anyone down on their luck may wind up in Nucriestan, where then women are loose and the morals looser. It is true that Nucriestan has a higher amount of brothels per square mile than most nations, and the desolate, desert expanses are known to be inhabited by vicious nomadic tribes and murderous bandits. The burghers maintain a token military that protects the towns and roads, but any who stray from the beaten paths are left to the mercy of the bandits or the desert winds.
Structure
The Burghers run Nucriestan, each concentrating on their own particular settlement. Occasionally, should the need arise, they will 'nominate' one of their number to represent them internationally, the Burghermeister.
Demography and Population
The people of Nucriestan live almost entirely in the small settlements huddle along the trade roads. A few people live in fishing villages on the coast of the The Celestial Sea in the west, but there are very few in number. Those that do live off the beaten track are usually unregistered, as those who live outside the settlements are often found dead, or they are the ones who caused them to become dead. The largest population of Nucriestan is humans, at twenty one percent. Tieflings make up the next largest group at seventeen percent. Other races fill the rest out fairly evenly, as Nucriestan is a home to anyone looking for a looser definition of the law.
Territories
Nucriestan borders with The Southern Union in the very north, before running south through the Eucrus desert until it hits the northern border of Survefras. Eucrus is a constant border on the East, as the Celestial Sea is on the west. The land itself is largely uninhabitable, with the odd fertile oasis, and some grassy shrubland in the south. Nucriestan holds these lands less because it is rightfully theirs, but more because nobody else wants it.
Military
There is no standing military in Nucriestan. Each town has a guard, usually made up of hired mercenaries, paid for by the local Burgher. Outside of that, the people of Nucriestan rely on their enemies becoming lost in the unforgiving expanse of the Eucrus desert.
Technological Level
There is very little science or technology in Nucriestan. What little exists is usually bought by the Burghers at great expense.
Religion
Although the Pantheon is the official religion here, there are plenty of places in Nucriestan away from prying eyes, where cults and groups dedicated to dark beings can flourish. Indeed, there have been many reports of Cultists of Kanarosh in the sands, a group which the Burghers are putting very minimal effort into wiping out.
Foreign Relations
Nucriestan has very little foreign relations to speak of. Most other nations look on it with disdain.
Trade & Transport
Nucriestan has two large, well maintained and defended roads. The Spine Road runs directly from north to south, and the Bow Road arches off it in the north, heading south and east.
Education
Most people in Nucriestan are educated on the streets. They learn the basic; Reading, Writing, trading. But they also learn other vital skills, such as dirty fighting, purse cutting, prostitution, and back street alchemy, when the need arises.

Major Imports
Nucriestan imports almost everything, from basic foodstuffs to more luxury goods. There is very little produced in the country, so traders of all kinds are an essential lifeline.

Each town and surrounding area in Nucriestan is subject to it's own laws, set by it's Burgher.

Each Burgher is responsible for enforcing their own laws, and they usually employ small armies of mercenaries to do so.
