The Fjordun Isles

Fjordun is a kingdom of islands, held together by the need for survival. These frozen islands are littered with villages and cities that often overpopulate. The Kingdom of Fjordun has found it’s a solution through raiding. Most able bodied men with heirs are recruited to raiding parties that then attack the main continent, ruthlessly taking the gold and food they can while any losses help the swelling population of the Fjordun peoples.   "By ship you have crossed the Sea of Fangs and in the far distance you can make out towering jagged rocks guarding numerous isles. The ship breaks through sheets of ice, each with a devastating crack. The warrior sailors manning the boat sing praises of the fjords (or as they call them the sea fangs). Your hands frozen and throat raw you await the warmth of a friendly hearth as the captain maneuvers gracefully between sea fang after sea fang. The ship drops anchor as the warriors sing songs of victory and hoist stolen riches from the lower cabins onto the black sand beach. The city that lies before you is small and built of crude stone and wood but it explodes with fervor as the residents emerge looking for their fathers, brothers, and husbands. Many are told of their loved ones passing only to rejoice that they have found death in battle and raid. Soon the city has prepared a feast and bonfires are lit, the warmth you crave is finally here as the warriors tell tale of their raid and victory. It is most unfortunate that you are not welcome in the festivities but instead are forced to sit far from the bonfires in cold iron shackles. It is uncertain what task your new fjordun masters have for you, but you wish that you had not been captured in their raid. "

Structure

Similar to a tribal monarchy , the fjordun kingdom is made up of great tribes that vie for power. The truth is that only the greatest tribe may claim kingship over the frost fall isles and as such, as tribes wane and wax, it is often that the kingship passes to one tribe to another on the death of a monarch. The new king is usually chosen through tournament.

Public Agenda

The fjordun know no peace and no mercy. Overpopulation and poverty have made them ferocious and feral people while the sea fangs keep them safe on their island home. They wish only to plunder and trade for a better life.

Assets

The biggest asset the Fjorduns have is their population. They are numerous more so than most nations and oftenly care little for the concept of death. They also possess perfect wood for ship making and enough metal to provide a blade in each raiders hand.

History

Not being truly founded until the early age of discord, the fjordun people are young as a nation. They have however, not changed much since their olden days except now their raids are fewer and far between but have increased in size and ferocity.

Demography and Population

Slaves of any race can be found within the isles, but the actual citizenship is made up of nothing but humans. Some interbreeding with Sardonians and even elves have brought about occasional oddities in the isles.

Territories

The Fjorduns call the Frostfall isles their home and with too many people and infertile soil they wish to carve new lands from the mainland kingdoms.   Some of the larger settlements of the isles include the cities of Blackharbour, Drakesgrave, and Crab bay. The towns of Blade, First Landing , and Skullcove. Also the villages of Sea's Calm, Bjorn's Fort, and Iceclaw.

Military

The military of the isles is that of its navy and raiders. Advanced ships made to move quickly and maneuver well , while breaking ice and navigating shallow waters. The raiders are armored lightly with predominately one handed weapons so they can move quickly from the sea to land and back.

Foreign Relations

The isles themselves have no allies, nor do they truly need them. They do however have a preferred target ( or so they call it), Gilrent. The trade empire is rich in gold and resources , something that draws the attention of any fjordun raising fleet.
