Dryadalum is the home of the High Elves and the heart of the empire.They take it upon themselves to ensure every boy and girl learn magic growing up. You would be hard pressed to find an adult who does not know a few spells. They believe the best way to learn magic is not just through practicing spells but also honing the mind. Fine arts and theater are common place in Dryadalum. Magic is used to enhance the visuals of their art and plays. However these pieces of art are not judged by the visual effects, but by if someone who sees it feels a deep emotion or understands the ideas the artist is trying to convey.   The Dryadalum Empire is reaching the height of its power. in an era of conquest there is no king that can stand against its power. The primary population being high elves Dryadalum has the most sophisticated magical advances, which they feel obligated to share with the rest of the world. Once another country joins the empire, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, the talented mages will come and teach them the best way to learn advanced magic. The new governors oversee a huge infrastructure overhaul so that this new province is up to par with the rest of the empire. While some see their conquest as brutal, Dryadalum bring all of its advancements to their provinces and with time, allows the people to become citizens.   The most recent conquest was Lexonia. A federation of 7 tribes with a common history and language. Mostly peaceful these humans and half-lings usually do not leave the borders of Lexonia. While the tribes will bicker and argue with one another they understand their dependence on one another especially with the growing power south of them. 4 years ago Dryadalum marched north and conquered the 6 southern tribes. it was a long fought and difficult war. The Lexonians are very familiar with their territory and are not shy of guerrilla tactics. When the Empire tried to march through the mountain pass to reach the last tribe (Vercengex), a terrible and long lasting blizzard froze them is the mountains. This blizzard caught them off guard as winter was not supposed to hit for another 3 months. The empire retreated momentarily. a few months passed with an uneasy cease fire between Dryadalum and Vecengex. Recently more and more troops have been moved to the border. War is likely to start again soon.
