Armistead Vehicle in Buckle Your Belt | World Anvil

Armistead

Armistead is a TB Dockworks early design for a missile frigate or destroyer. Very high offensive capabilities combined with high maneuverability is offset by fairly low defense, making it a typical version of the traditional "floating tin can".

Power Generation

Power is provided by an Abysium augmented Arcus Maximum power core, providing plenty of power with some left over, atypical of a TB Dockworks design. Subsequent designs and modifications would make this closer to optimal.

Propulsion

To help offset the minimal passive and active defenses, Armistead is fitted with the most speedy set of thrusters available. She also has a basic Signal Basic drift engine.

Weapons & Armament

Armistead has a most impressive missile arsenal for it's size. It is strictly a missile boat with no energy weapons mounted. Main weaponry is linked turret mounted heavy antimatter missile launchers. Supplemented with another heavy antimatter missile launcher forward and heavy plasma mines in the aft mount. For protection when out of position or when attacked from multiple arcs, there is a micromissile battery in the port and starboard mounts.

Armor and defense

While the Armistead is heavily weaponized, she uses what space available for some crew protection. TB Dockworks ablative armor along with Mk 2 armor for basic damage alleviation and light deflector shields and Horacalcum augmented Mk 3 active defenses give her the ability to hopefully last more than one launch cycle. Also, her ability to stand off with weapons that are long range helps keep her in the fight longer than a ship that had to get up close and personal. In addition, she has Mk 1 reinforced bulkheads and steel composite fortified hull fittings.

Communication Tools & Systems

A Mk 2 trinode computer system helps increase the offensive capabilities.

Sensors

Budget long range sensors are fitted for targeting ability, but for maximum effectiveness, this class is much more capable when part of a combined force that can provide better targeting through data nets.

Additional & auxiliary systems

Being a basic missile design, there are no special auxiliary systems installed, but the cargo holds are equipped to hold more loads of missile in the event of an extended battle or cruise where the normally limited load out may become a factor.
