Angelic Host

The Angelic Host is the study-driven side of the Host Race. Angelic Host are, upon birth, modified to have hair which can manipulate small tools, and act as a third hand when typing at consoles. Most Angels tend to be female, while most Demons tend to be male. Angels live in the fringes of society as one of the new races which were pulled through the Godseye. After Damocles tore open the rift, the celestial-like host race found a home quickly on the verdant forests of Kismet, before expanding their bio-technological M’class ships across the solar system. You’ll usually find angels either in orbit around a planet rife with scientific discovery, or in a laboratory somewhere.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Angelic Host are pale skinned, quantitative thinkers. Focused on progressing, cataloguing, and experimentation. They have a dendrite protruding from the top of their skull, much like a long braid, which can be used for minor manipulation of equipment.

Biological Traits

The Angelic host share basic biology with the Daemonic. The key difference is that the angelic have small vestigial wings and a dendrite hanging from the head, with a larger cranium and increased brain matter.

Genetics and Reproduction

Angelic Host can only reproduce with Daemonic Host. Regardless of sex, operations, or gender preference. This seems to be tied as much to genetics as some magical unquantifiable reason.

Ecology and Habitats

Used to very minimalist, effective, efficiency, the Angelic spend most of their time studying. They rarely hunt, gather, or produce anything but technology, they eat whatever is brought to them, and whatever the Daemons bring home from their travels. The Angelic have a known soft spot for spicy food.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Angelic treat energizing themselves as a car owner treats a gas station. Necessary, inconvenient, and to be done efficiently and quickly. Their only notable preference is for spicy flavors, the reason why is unknown.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Angels have a vestigial dendrite, at one time in their biological history, this was fully prehensile and functional as an appendage, now it's more of a beauty mark among the Host.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Host tend to orbit planets in an M'class Angelcraft, a mothership about 50 kilometers in area, the size of a small city. These M'class (mothership class) angelcraft are found near almost every Inner Rim Planet, with a few scattered about the Outer Rim.

Average Intelligence

Intelligence d8-d12 Persona d4-d8

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Angelic Host don't have any inborn special sensory abilities, but they do have as an entire sub-species, access to the Angel Archives. For this reason their knowledge of all ages, time periods, and designs of any science, is increased drastically.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

The Daemons are the symbiotic sub-species of the host. Angels and Daemons pair, and an Angel cannot reproduce with anything other than a Daemon.

Beauty Ideals

The length of dendrite is considered a marker of beauty and health, with longer being desired. The rare appearance of feathery down along the arms, vestigial wings, and calves is highly preferred.

Gender Ideals

The Angels, though mostly female by sex, can be of any gender. Not much care is given to it, as Host society, specifically Angel society is meritocratic by nature.

Courtship Ideals

The Angelic don't practice courtship so much as allowance. Angels tend to allow any Daemon into their personal space without issue to babble, rifle through their personal affects, and aid with experiments. A preferred or chosen Daemonic has extensive access to the Angel, to the point of commonly rifling through the angels pockets, bags, and equipment. Courtship is little more than that.

Relationship Ideals

Angels view Daemons as necessary, skilled, and enjoyable companions. Due to the biological differences in nature, they accept that Daemons need socialization to be healthy and happy, and are happy to provide it in kind. The only general rule of a relationship with a Daemon is not to mess with experiments the Angel is conducting unless asked.

Average Technological Level

Angels are a future tech race, who have managed to start fusing magic and technology in ways most other species can't fully understand.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

The Angels speak Inner or Outer Rim, depending on location, and common. They also speak Naebliss, the language of the original Host, which only Angels and Demons can learn. It is a language made both of magic, verbal, and somatic components.

Common Etiquette Rules

Angels are incredibly private individuals with a high respect for personal space, with the exception of Daemons, they tend to be wary of anyone being near or around their affects. This is both biological and also a necessity, due to the nature of their experiments being delicate and precise.

Common Dress Code

Angels tend to wear very functional, efficient clothing, caring little for fashion.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

The most common custom of the Angelic host is a simple one. "Self Improvement, to each what they have earned". This summarizes the entire Host approach of life, for both Daemons and Angels alike.

Common Taboos

Never interrupt another individuals experiments. Ever.

Historical Figures

Methusiel, the last of the original Host, with benefits of both angel and demon, perished long before the Godseye. The original Host were biologically immortal, capable of flight, and likely the biological progenitor species of dozens if not hundreds of others across the Godseye.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Angels are polite, yet concise, with every other species. They run strictly on meritocratic thought, and care little for the personal squabbles of other species.

RPG Datasheet

As an Angelic Host, you have advantage on all Information Domain tests. As an Angelic Host, you have disadvantage on all Networking Domain tests, interactions with daemonic are exempt from this penalty. As an Angelic Host, you have access to the angel archives, allowing you to access schematics for anything magitek or tech, if the items cost is less than your intelligence multiplied by 100. (Maximum of 2000 amit.) (Special: Host Half.) The Angelic want to be around demonic, and have no concept of personal space when dealing with them. Angels have nothing to fear from demons, as they act as valets functionally when around them, helping, bringing them food, and even cleaning their lab/quarters. Angels often are simply leaving creations their demon needs lying around for whatever adventures are upcoming, creating them as afterthoughts without really consciously intending to fix their problems.

Angel Employment:     Angels are often employed by research agencies, usually through a society which focuses on high level technological innovation. Angels are often found at the head of teams when working for Mad Brotherhood outposts or in the SDA, are often very highly paid. Angels rarely if ever take grunt work or petty jobs, and often can be outright insulted at the job offer. Within Skyguard or the M’Class Angels can often be found within the Angel Archives, a vast technological institute with copies and registries of every scientific advancement that the Host have knowledge of. Only Host are allowed into the Angel Archives, and they never discuss any of the goings on with anyone who is not a Host. The Angel Archives has been guarded and secured so well that they have never been successfully infiltrated, the sheer amount of screening and the fact that the Angel Archives constantly has far advanced prototype constructs guarding it, made from almost impervious material and immune to all but the most titanic of Soul abilities, has caused a common idiom among the Denizens across Brutalis, “that’s as likely as a mortal reading the archives.”
Roleplaying Angels:     When roleplaying Angels only two words should come to mind. Self-improvement, and technology. An Angel is always interested in how things work, and rarely are they found without a vested interest in intelligence and science. Angels are almost universally highly educated in at least one of the technical fields, and most are interested in trying new things within their fields more than making current technology more applicable or easy to use. Since this is the case, Angels often seem distant, cold, logical, and self-serving.
Angels in Private:     Angels are more often found in private than in public. Most of them work at guild workshops furthering their own personal studies, and rarely a few are found with their other half, the Daemon who they plan to mate with. Angels and Daemons don’t really have courting, and often end up mating simply because of proximity or a common cause. An Angel rarely finds any enjoyment in consumption of media or games, and would much prefer to study their favorite research. Angels are meticulous and protective of their own private areas, especially when experiments are on-going. They rarely allow people to simply waltz into their locations, particularly when choosing those who can join them within their personal quarters. The only major exception to this is when concerning Daemons, who essentially are allowed free reign to wander into any Angels personal areas. It is understood by the Host as a race that Daemons are naturally curious, harmlessly intrusive, and often hopeless romantics, requiring the scent of an Angel and its nearby presence regularly to maintain mental health. Most Angels wouldn’t pay a second glance to a Daemon who they don’t know wandering up and rummaging through their satchel, locker, or cabinets, and would only pause to remind them not to touch any experiments in progress. A Daemon who has been chosen as a mate is especially allowed to rummage through even the Angels pockets as they are being worn so long as it isn’t hampering their current project.

Angels in Public:     Angels are rarely found walking about the world in a group unless there is a way for them to gain something towards their research whether it be funding, resources, or samples. An angel usually makes use of their own equipment, and rarely can someone without technological prowess in the same area pick it up and use it without extensive instruction. Angels are usually found primarily in M’Class “mother-tree-class” ships, and rarely are wandering the world unless for the reasons. If they are found in other cities or locations, they are almost certainly focused completely on the task at hand, and usually can be found studying in some form of educational facility. Angels are terse because of efficiency and focus, although it isn’t uncommon for them to simply presume through the natural arrogance of the Host that anyone aside from another Host or renown and widely recognized expert in a field wouldn’t be of any use to them, brushing them aside as a burden and distraction, or using them and discarding them as a tool. Angels are almost never involved in community events, unless those events are akin to fundraisers for their own personal projects, or a means to an end which benefits their studies directly.
