Sirens

"Sirens, originally depicted as bird like women, the word siren can sometimes be associated with mermaids, hust like this time, but this sirens aren´t like the mermaids we see in fairytales, this ones are more like the monsers we see on movies, these are less... human, appearance wise, for all I know, my little Penny isn´t a monster, just, a child who´s scared and acts by incstinc in order to survive, Im sure all of them were like here, at least the one who got to live."

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their body is quite humanoid, even though sirens have broader shoulders and tend to have quite an athletic body, none of them have hair, their skin normally has dull colors, with the back being a darker tone and some areas on the front being lighter, they have extremely sharp teeth, webbing and claws on their hands and feet, big white eyes,no nose, fins on arms, legs, back and some in the place where ears should be, sirens have plates similar to the ones found on prehistoric fishes and their skin feels smooth despite being covered by scales, they also have bioluminicence spots on their faces and back that they can turn on and off.

Genetics and Reproduction

We aren´t sure since all of them have been born from humans, with only one being alive and an adult, it appears as they can´t reproduce with other races but we aren´t sure if they can reproduce at all, due to the lack of characteristics proper of a mammal, they probably reproduce by laying eggs, even though there´s a possibility that those eggs develope inside of their bodies and hatch when teir mother is giving birth

Growth Rate & Stages

10 years equals 5 years for them, with our only specimen being born in 1950, despite of her age her body shows the same characteristics of someone in their mid thirties, it is show that their mind and and body matures quicker on the firts 30 years and probably skips stages like puberty.

Ecology and Habitats

Sirens have shown to be anphibian, they of course prefer to be on water but still able to survive around a week on land, they still need to be constantly hydrated and seem to adapt to the sea, ocean, lakes, rivers, etc-

Dietary Needs and Habits

Can eat anything, but still prefer meat over fruit and vegetables, mostly fish, they need to eat human mean in order to survive.

Biological Cycle

Sirens shed scaled while growing up, this stops when adulthood is reached.

History

Sirens were created by a curse, a witch who decided to curse a family, all of their female descendants are going to be sirens.

Sirens themselves are consiferated legends.

Origin/Ancestry

There´s only one specimen that´s alive, but we can speculate that most sirens have characteristics similar to deep sea fishes, like bioluminicence, and even plates like prehistoric fishes.

Lifespan

Not sure yet, probably hundreds of years, due to their slow aging process.

Conservation Status

Due to this species being born out of a curse, most of them have been killed, with only one being alive, we aren´t sure wheter she is able to have children, but as the family that carries the curse still alive, then there´s going to be more sirens, we aren´t sure if they are going to get killed or not.
