Broken Earth

Broken Earth is our future, where magic collides with metal, where a land has been tainted with "echos" of our past, manifested into physical form. It starts off with a nameless stranger looking for a piece of the past that might be able to help fight against the echos, later named "Oscar" by a little girl that will spend the rest of her life with him. Oscar has magic abilities, granted to him from a cult that recruits lost "children" and sends them into a mental hell for seven days that will leave them with scars all along a certain part of the body, the cult was created from a man who touched a poisonous smoking flower, he was granted abilities beyond belief, but at a cost. He could not touch anyone or get close to them, so he secluded himself in a cave and later discovered that he had gained magical abilities, mostly based off of morphing and shaping metal, heating it up and changing its internal structure. He opened his cave to other people, but they were reluctant and tried to kill him, but to no avail, the government was about to completely level the area with a hydrogen bomb, but the man was so furious, he himself exploded, and destroyed most of the world, killing the man, but giving the gift he had to others, those others were children and sought to make the whole world theirs, but when the man exploded, he left pieces of himself inside of the children, and took control for a short time, to punish them for their devastation they brought to this already broken earth. the children where punished and suffered long periods of pain in a random part of the body above the waist, the painful spots eventually became scars, ones that constantly bled a wispy red smoke, their hair turned oily black and produced smoke, and their mental state was completely destroyed and they finally started to obey their "father". over time they went underground and created a life for themselves, had children with the same abilities they had, and built structures with nothing but metal and their hands. while above ground, the other people that didn't survive the massive blast, were turned into "echos" creatures that have no eyes, grey skin and a massively wide jaw full of sharp teeth that can rip through metal and bone. people used their misshapen skulls as trophies when they killed the creatures. they built houses with whatever they could find and survived the best they could. One day, a child above the surface was granted powers and the other people banished him, but he showed them that he could help rebuild their civilization. he was the one who built their metal factories and houses, paved the streets with metal and gave cars to ride those metal streets, but he never had a name.
