Bríatha

Bríatha is a world on the Prime Material Plane, located within a a Crystal Sphere far away from any other. More than 4000 years ago, many great civilizations ruled the world, each one worshiping a pantheon of gods who guided and aided their followers, all the while keeping Bríatha isolated and protect from interlopers from other worlds.   However, during an event known as "The Betrayal", a god of darkness called forth monsters from other realms and worlds that would later be called daemons into Bríatha. Convincing a few other gods to aid him, the god of darkness rose up in rebellion against the natural order.   In the following war that lasted centuries, numerous gods were killed and over half of the population of the mortal races lost and most of the world's civilizations were destroyed. However, the god of darkness himself was killed and his allies were either executed or sealed away.   Thousands of years later, the world has managed to somewhat heal and rebuild, but scars still remain and the mortal races have yet to replicate the magic that made the civilizations of old. Despite this, most of the mortal races are thriving in their own ways and continue to worship the gods who have protected them and the world since time immemorial.
