Visitors from other worlds
There are countless world-isles floating in the purple void of Braythe, each one connected to at least two others via the World-Chains. And while these chains are gigantic and don't exactly offer a friendly environment for most living beings, they do allow to travel between worlds without any powerful magic or spacefaring vehicles.
People leave their own world for a variety of reasons: As explorers, refugees or conquerors, for example. Some of them, especially those with a longer life expectancy, journey from one world to the next. These travelers might have seen countless different worlds, and they certainly have many different stories to tell.
There is a whole culture based on exploring neighboring worlds. You could call it an organization, but these travelers aren't really organized - they just stay in contact with each other, at least occasionally. Through spells and other means of long-distance communication, the so-called Wanderers travel from world to world, writing down their experiences and sharing the most important information with others. They warn other Wanderers which worlds to avoid, and even create vast maps of the complex network of chains connecting the known worlds.
The appearance of a new world in Braythe, like Ashandri, often attracts such Wanderers. But many of them like traveling the long way, crossing the chains between worlds step by step. It can take years before the first Wanderers appear in a new world, and some might never reveal to the locals who they are and where they come from.
What unites them is their thirst for knowledge, and Wanderers sharing the first information about a new world are often highly acknowledged among their fellows. Some spill all the secrets they can find, others pick the details carefully. The Wanderers are very diverse, and while they do help each other with their shared knowledge, they don't always agree on how they deal with other worlds. Some see it as an opportunity to exploit a world-isle, others seek to protect or understand a location or culture. When Wanderers with very different philosophies meet each other, the resulting conflicts can sometimes be disastrous. Despite that, killing another Wanderer is heavily frowned upon and might lead to an individual being cut off from the shared knowledge.
