Session 38

Gwenda   We need to get out of this forest as soon as possible -- it’s messing with us. Kara has been particularly in tune with this forest by kinda growling and scowling her way through, using this gnarly sword she found. It is helping us get through more quickly, but thanks to what Cormag showed me with his special under-eye goop, I was able to see that there are loads of spirits in another plane reacting strongly in fear/disgust of this sword. The original purpose of the goop was to see what was going on with these five light blobs that have followed us over the past day’s travels. Cormag says they’re probably will-o-wisps and not to trust them. They had shackles on their feet, but weren’t tethered to anything, and they were bouncing, and they didn’t want to interact with just one of us, but all of us - sounds like a bad decision if I’ve ever heard of one. Oh, and they’re undead apparently. Totally trustworthy.   Last night we had an awful collective dream. We were all on a bridge, able to move but tied together. We saw visions: we saw the stone bridge in Baldur’s Gate in devastation from demonic attacks. There was a curved sword with runes on it, and a dead badger beside it. Then I saw the cell in Cair Callidyr that we had a werewolf encounter in, but now Dad, Vanthris, and Silroe were being kept there. I began running to him, but not before the vision changed to a stone totem with deep-red blood smeared across it. The others fell off the bridge and out of the dream. I was alone, falling, when a brightly glowing figure touched my forehead and told me to do what I must do, and I felt this rush of energy surge into me that I’ve never felt anything like before.   So we woke up this morning asking ourselves if we should keep searching for the refugees or if we should turn back for the people we know are in danger. For now, we’re going to get ready for the day, then reach out to Dad and Vanthris with magic and see what we find out.     (hasty squiggly line, followed by way less careful penmanship than above)   SHIT   Cormag told me he wasn’t going to do this again.   I could try to reel him back with his duskstone and his staff, but if I fail his spirit would likely be gone forever. I’m praying for Torm to guide him back, Kara’s making an offering to Mayuk, and Arya is performing a ritual I’ve never seen. We were almost out of the woods, but we may end up having lost someone along the way. I sense him getting colder every passing second -- Torm, give us the strength and wisdom to bring him back.
