Wabakun
The Whisper in the Dark Wabankun (a.k.a. Widjigo, Cold Hunger, The Spirit of Frozen Soil)
The slow drift of the northern winds brings more than the winter snow to the lands of the Frozen Coast and Northern Varda. As the sun flees the sky earlier during the day and food becomes scarce, the wind no longer caresses as it did in the fall, it bites; not only on the skin of the weary farmer or traveler, but in their hearts as well. An otherwise reasonable person may find themselves in a moment of desperation.
When the uncaring storms of blinding snow finally descend on their homes, the truly unfortunate who live on the outskirts begin to hear odd whispers. The soft words multiply quickly as time passes and with them hunger and greed grows as well. Though many resist, few can fight this assault on their sanity. Their desperation is a beacon to Wabakun and his kin, demons of corruption attracted to the fear of death from hunger and the greed of those who hoard food and other wealth while others suffer.

The only real nuance to their ideology is that it must be done using the person's own strength, mirroring the deep greed that is associated with the wendigo's favored vessel.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
Its sole purpose is to propagate the wendigo scourge upon civilized lands and to feed on terror. If it has any other desires, they are unknown.

Mental characteristics
Personal history
Wabakun is an ancient and demonic Goliath spirit of corruption, greed, and depravity that preys on weak-willed and fearful humanoids during the winter months of the world. It is unique among its fell brethren in that it can cross over into the material plane during those times of the year, attempting to possess those who fall to its temptations. It revels in imposing its will over other creatures, not unlike other demons.
Some stories allege that it was once an early goliath so overcome with the urge of self preservation that it murdered and ate its own family in the deep of winter. Whether it was a man or woman has been lost to time, but stories exist of portrayals from both sexes. Goliath culture has changed somewhat since those early times, but stories of this spirit remain.
Since those ancient times it comes with the winter winds and snows to terrorize those living on the outskirts of society, attempting to create more of its kin. Under most circumstances, Wabakun arrives to Boros in spirit form and must possess a creature to walk the land. Under certain conditions however, it can manifest physically. Woe unto the poor souls that encounter the voice of a loved one or a traveler just beyond their door when the snows blow in the deep of winter.

Education
As an ancient spirit, Wabakun possesses extensive knowledge of past events, particularly in the areas within his sphere of influence.
Intellectual Characteristics
The predatory instincts Wabakun exhibits extend beyond those of common beasts. It revels in playing with its food and has been known to exhibit behaviors that aid it and its progeny to hunt. Preferring to hunt intelligent creatures, Wabakun enjoys manipulating its targets using their most basic desires, particularly those of survival, and will observe it for a time before commencing its unrelenting assaults on its psyche. Worse still, it is patient and enjoys drawing out the creatures suffering until it finally attacks when the creature is effectively at the point of madness or as close to it as possible.
The use of mimicry allows it to draw out individuals away from the safety of numbers, often copying the voice of a trusted figure to its target. As a complement to its mimicry, it often enjoys disguising itself with illusions, making it appear as if it has a deer's skull for a head, promoting more rumors and spreading its name. Like any capable hunter, it is versed in tracking and hiding from prey - its wendigo progeny using the same tactics. Though it is perfectly capable of destroying entire villages on its own, it prefers to single out lone targets. On rare occasions though, it enjoys going on a slaughtering frenzy in remote homesteads, leaving no one alive. These unfortunate souls are usually discovered after particularly terrible storms.
