The Great Coral Bridges
Before the modern races of man, elf, or dwarf every existed within in Kalthorin, titans ruled the continent. They were a race of beings standing at sixty feet tall, if not taller, they walked the titanous forest, the trees still towering over them, and yet they could not ford the rivers.
The rivers themselves are treacherous thing, fraught with innumerable species of fish ready to tear you apart and giant creatures in which the titans even feared. The river depth was unknowable, for if a titan feel in their visage quickly disappeared beneath it's depth no net nor rope could fetch them. It is not known how deep these rivers go, only to pray that you never fall into them. But the titans were an adventurous sort and even if they could not ford them they fished them. They raided the fertile land day in and day out, the invertible bounty providing growth for their villages. It was like this until the they great squid folk of the depths rose. Just as big if not bigger then titans they were feared by the very beings that fished in there homes. But rather then rage or anger the squid folk instead talked.
They were polite in there dealing but stern. The told the titans of all the races that they were starving, the titans ripping their vital foods from their homes. They gave them a deal, if they stopped fishing withing the year they would have a bridge to cross the river with. The titans were terrified of these alien like beings, though cordial in their dealing, their talon lined tentacles and enormous beaks struck fear into them, they agreed. The squid people were grateful and to the titans surprise the squid folk held up their end of the deal.
As the months passed a a structure emerged from the depths, grey and rough the squid-folks has been cultivating coral that slowly bridged the gaps between the lands split by the river. Seeing the honor they had held and seeing a bond unbroken the titans held their words as well, and stopped fisihing the lands.
The bridges themselves were giant, sizabale for a titan to cross with no issue and yet its strcutre remained solid. Caravans could pass over it and not even a single crumb would break off the coral. It brought a golden age among the titan races, allowing for new lands to be explored and more places to live... but would also bring upon the end of titans as they knew.
