Origipterans
Basic Information
Anatomy
Origipterans are large flying insects. They posess a long neck, and long, articulated wings. They have short limbs and a compact abdomen.
Growth Rate & Stages
They start their life as small worms, living and feeding inside dead wood. The larvae grow to reach twenty centimeters, then undergo a metamorphosis, from which the imago will climb its way out of the dead wood and reach the skies.
Ecology and Habitats
Adult origipterans are highly mobile, and spend most of their life in the skies. They can fly huge distances. They feed on smaller, ground insects and invertebrates, sea creatures, or for some species on fruits and seeds.
Biological Cycle
The larvae live in forests or underground. For species of the northern biomes (in the Blue Sea, adults often migrate in winter and reach the Golden Sea, or other, warm regions.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Origipterans have a highly developed sense of sight, as well as good smelling capacities.
