792.II - Neenov

I've lived in Neenov for a few month, a while ago. Kalsh was it rough! Even if I was there during voii. It's so much in the north that in the warm season, nights barely exist. The issue is, it's the other way around during velii...
People there, are very strange. They have a strong, I mean nearly incomprehensible accent. They are tough and rough, but so kind and sharing, it shames all the other regions I've crossed before. I guess that, when nature is overly tough, there's no violence left to spare between people... It's also true that since the only other settlement is several dozen rides away, we're all alone in a single place. It creates solid bonds.
In these ever white lands, resources are scarce. They build houses with imported wood and clay, but it's so expensive, that houses barely exceed half of a cord in length. But they manage to make the places quite cozy, even without windows. They cover the whole house with snow, and build igloos as storages on the walls. I must say, if it wasn't for the extreme cold, tasteless food and extreme seclusion, the place could be rather amazing living in

Yeah, about the food... With no land to grow stuff on, only the sea provides. It's too expensive to import large amounts of food daily, so the only thing people eat everyday is shrimp. Dried and salted shrimp most of winter, and in summer we can have fresh meat from the bay. My caretaker was very creative when it came to preparing it, and I could not have imagined how many ways she could cook a single main ingredient. In three months living there, I must have eaten vegetables six times at most, other than dried fanais or bread. My guts were not very happy about that diet.
I would lie if I told that I want to go back there, but I must admit that I found a strange beauty in the monochrome lands surrounding the town, in the calm bay crossed by ships, and the noisy harbour pub where human warmth is stronger than any icestorm.
