Bolsters

An elven world with a spattering of goblins and rare communities of orcs spread around in the more mountainous regions. Legends tell of a dwarven kingdom somewhere beneath the surface as a form of earth-elves. Humans are creatures of myth that are said to be as strong orcs while they have the magical capacities of the air-elves. Magical energy (mana or ether) drive several processes not present in our world. Possible to manipulate the flow of this ether if the knowledge of what is being manipulated is held. Those that are able to do so reliably and known as mages are held in high esteem. The threat of a war between two major nations on one of the continents causes one of the minor countries (Bolsters) that lie between the countries is looking to find someone who would be able to lead their country. Priests use magic to divine advice from their gods on the best person to lead. The nations have been waging a cold war for the last several decades. In recent years, one of the countries have started to amass weapons on the border, causing the other to start aggressive actions of their own. Border skirmishes are starting to develop, drawing concern from a chain of nations that lie close to the borders of both countries.
