Artifacts of Note from the Taking

Many artifacts of particular importance in Bloodmarsh were actually forged on the bloody beachheads out of the first few ingots of iron and bronze smelted there. Forgings from in-situ materials became infused with some of the essence of the massive dying happening at the time, and every work of blacksmithing quenched in the pink waters of the beachhead gained not only intelligence of a sort, but also strange and terrible magic properties. These are not enchanted items; they are haunted by the thousands of vengeful souls whose blood went into every part of the crafting. It is postulated based on historical articles that each item grows stronger each time someone dies while clinging to it.   Dunling the Despoiler
The only sword in the setting is broken, but nonetheless of great importance. No swords are forged in Bloodmarsh anymore. Those brought in by immigrants seem to get broken or destroyed really quickly. There's something of a mystery to this for foreigners, but locals typically dismiss the question saying, "If I get that close to anything, it's probably already killed me." Anyway, Dunling is about twelve inches of ragged black steel attached to an often-replaced crossguard and hilt. Only the blade and tang are original, and the latter foot-and-a-half of the original sword was broken off and lost a century ago. Dunling is an intelligent item, its will being slowly made known to the weilder in the form of vague urges to kill this or that. It is also remarkably good at killing things and destroying stuff. No swing of Dunling can end without drawing blood, even if it has to swing all the way around and hit your other arm. Careful. It is currently in the posession of Savenei the Obvious, a goblin warrior of high (almost mythic) standing.
  The Crossbow of Day
Little is known of this item other than the name. It is written that "the sun obeys the crossbow's call", and "no force on earth shall resist the sting of its dart."
  Welligan's Bifurcator
The Bifurcator is a rectangle of black steel about eighteen inches long and eight inches wide, all about a quarter inch thick. One of the long edges is slightly sharpened to a dull cutting edge. Whenever the cutting edge touches an object, the blade leaps forward with irresistible force, cutting through material until its whole edge is back out of solid surroundings. This terrifying artifact was lost in a research accident in 2243, resulting in several amputated legs and a lot of grief for the undergraduates. It was last seen cutting a neat slot through the limestone bedrock under Sutyr.
  The Dolor Spears
There still remains one set of weapons of the same pattern: four spears of black steel, the hafts often replaced but the tips still ancient and sharp as any razor. The points of the Dolor Spears have an interesting heart-seeking property, and also return to the wielder after each throw. These are the legendary weapons of the Aqua Clan Aqua Plan, a Locathah party of famous and dubious tales beloved of the fishfolk.
