Illirium Steel Material in Blood of The Ly'eath | World Anvil

Illirium Steel

As told be Nal'Draken

You don't know about Illirium Steel. For shame, not really, there was sarcasm in that statement. Anyway Illirium Steel is one of the strongest of metals throughout the cardinal Realms, specifically it comes from the Southern Realm, Zydra. I personally wouldn't go to there because of well, it's literally just a massive swamp Realm.

Properties

Material Characteristics

The mineral itself is a shiny silvery blue crystal ore when found, and then it can be a smelted down to a ingot that is the same color but the transluscent edges are more prominent.

Physical & Chemical Properties

The properties of the metal is that it's extremely hard to break, it doesn't rust or erode and keeps its razor sharp edge if made into a sword, blade, and even some ammunition. I should know considering most of my weaponry is made with Illirium Steel. It is also cool to the touch and can enhance any spell that is cast upon it. So that fireball you thought did quite a bit of damage to the castle walls you fired at, but didn't break it down. Yeah place a fireball inside of an arrow tip and you'll have that wall and the gate blown apart. You're welcome.

Geology & Geography

So Illirium Steel is found in the Souther Cardinal Realm, Zydra. The swamp Realm is littered with pools of dark murky water that are home to this metal, if you dig deep enough. Just be careful of the creatures that lurk inside those pools. They are usually encased in a large crystal of various colors, but mostly a clear and reflective rainbow color is the casing for this metal. While green, blue, purple, orange, red, and yes pink crystal shells are not uncommon for a casing of the Steel.

Origin & Source

When I did eventually stop getting fired at my the Zydran Draeklyr, I found out that the metal had always been there and they just mined it up on accident..

History & Usage

Everyday use

Common usage for the metal is more to make weaponry, armory, and ammunition for the Cardinal Realms. While Zydra doesn't want to trade with the Northern Realm of Askana, they'll trade with the Eastern and Western Realms, while those realms trade with Askana.

Il St

Type
Metal
Odor
Alright I can't really blame you for wanting to smell the metal after you just tried to taste it, but it really has no taste.
Taste
If you're trying to eat the Illirium Steel, you should be warned because people will look at you like your crazy. Trust me on that one.
Color
The color of Illirium Steel is mostly a silvery blue with hints of translucent along the edges, it's super pretty in my opinion.
Boiling / Condensation Point
I don't know most of that sciencey stuff but I would guess that only a super heated forge like the ones they got in Zydra would probably melt it.
Melting / Freezing Point
If you want to freeze it then you're gonna have to try harder than using a freezer. I mean the Northern Realm of Askana couldn't even do it, and that place is in winter always.
Density
Well considering it's one of the strongest metals in all of the realms, it's also one of the least densest
Common State
It's commonly found in a solid state.

Thank you for the giggles! It really adds flavor to your article! (Unlike the taste of the Illirium steel.)
