Kyros

(KEER-OS)
Description
Kyros first of the colony worlds settled in the sector at the edge of the known galaxy. Kyros is three Sol months from any other colony outside the sector. Kyros is rich in resources and the primary star-base in the sector. Kyros was ready for settlement without any atmospheric, or biome engineering. Religious colonists saw the planet as a gift from their god, or gods. No high order intelligence was found among native life-forms. This reduced the time necessary for human proliferation.
Kyros was touted as a paradise by Chronos, but many settlers would call the world Dys when they were away from the Chronos troops and officials. A workers’ revolt took place within a century of settlement. The planet was depopulated and then opened for resettlement. Settlers were brought in from various other colony worlds and from the remnants of Sol-System as well. The new colonists were all successful in completing a rigorous training and screening program before approval and arrival.
Permanent residents must profess and display complete loyalty to Chronos at all times. Any transgression will result in immediate deportation and incarceration on a penal moon.
People: Kyrosa are ethnically diverse; Kyrosa aren’t identified by genetic origin, but rather by their world of origin.
  • Base-Humans comprise the majority of the planet’s population
  • Androids are found in the major cities and star port on Kyros.
  • Cyborgs are fairly common on Kyros and make up a third of the population planet-wide.
  • Splicers are more common on Kyros than anywhere else in Chronos Space. They are assigned to operations in extreme conditions, or high risk environments.
  • Uplifts are a small part of the population and aren’t found on other planets in the sector, unless they are attached to an official’s entourage or household staff.
Faiths and Legends: Among the millions that call the colony home almost any known religion can be found. Some of these are revival cults trying to revive ancient cults from Earth. A few new belief systems have taken root, especially amongst the modified races of the Splicers and Uplifted. There is a good amount of tolerance among the colonists, but Chronos has strict policies prohibiting the practice of organized religion. Company investigators (Inquisitors) locate and disrupt any and all religious activities. Being found guilty of religious practice is grounds for revocation of citizenship and exile.
