Session 3: The Hangover Report

General Summary

Waking up after a night drinking a broad selection of intoxicating beverages, strangely none of the party suffered more than a dry mouth and peckish appetite. Kole immediately set about taking stock of the resources available in the longhouse. Finding plenty of cooking implements and a decided lack of actual food, it was decided that their first course of action was to split the party and go into the market. Kole and Seh-k'r went in search of household provisioning while Nemora went to check on Gamma at the Tailor's. At the tailor's shop, the storefront was much tidier than it was on their second visit, but Birger was nowhere to be seen. Nemora investigated the back door into the tailor's apartment and quickly saw the place had the look of being in the process of getting ransacked. Ducking around a corner seemed to be the burglar. Diplomacy failing with a muffled and pantsless bagged Birger, shots were fired and the scrawny ruffian fell dying to Nemora's feet. Sparing the dying one and freeing a disheveled Birger, Nemora learned the situation had come about on part of Birger's very hands on measurement taking. Birger gave her a warm hood he happened to have laying about and Nemora left to persuade a passing guard to take care of Birger's burglar. Returning to the longhouse after getting lost and very delayed, she arrived to a very spacy and energetic Seh-k'r and Kole snacking on a bought too many sack of raisins. Nemora tried her hand at making a stew with the new provisions, and while edible was far too salted to make up for being rather bland. They decided to make an early night, but not before a knock on the door revealed Eric Stronghanded and an older woman, Hilga. She turned out to be the mother of one of the slain couple and had come to thank them for returning not just their bodies so they could have proper funeral rites, but also the herbs for her arthritis that they were gathering for her. She brought a wicker basket of foods and offered up some suggestions to fix the pot of stew. They invited themselves to the funeral and Hilga became an adopted grandmother complete with a honey-do list. Kole made arrangements to meet Eric to become part of the Civil Watch on the following morning. While Seh-k'r crashed to sleep off the effects of his Tabaxi-herb, Nemora joined him, while once more, a restless Kole headed out into the night. Painfully aware he was in need of gloves, he headed for the same tavern to warm back up. Over a jack of ale he noticed a sleeping older dwarf to one side. Sidling over to check on him he found that the man had expired. His mug contained a whitish residue and there was a thong that had been cut from his belt and an untanned ring of skin on one finger revealed a missing ring. Taking the bartender to the side, they didn't draw undue attention as Kole was slipped a key and then "helped" the dead dwarf outside to the room. Discovering that the guards didn't seem to patrol in the area of the tavern, he left back to his residence and found someone patrolling near there. Telling them about what he'd found and dropping Eric's name, he passed over the room key and leather jack containing the suspicious substance. He then returned to the longhouse. The following day, Seh-k'r left to do his own lookabout and found a curiosities shop, Marshak's Curios. Entering the shop was an odd feeling for him, like there was something there he was looking for. He shopped for quite a while before stumbling on what appeared to be an iron stamp or branding tool in an odd triangular pattern. He saw a similar embroidered pattern on the shopkeeper's robe. He left to ask Ulf about it and discovered it was one of the marks or seal s of Asmodeus. Not an uncommon mark among the Teiflings.
