Bondi Dellingsson

If there ever was dashing swashbuckler full of derring-do the ladies would swoon over, Bondi Dellingsson was he made flesh. A lover in every port, a fresh tale to tell in every tavern, and jealous rivals at every turn was the life Bondi had. There were bets years and years old about how Bondi would someday meet his end. None of them included old age or lost at sea. Duels by cuckolded husbands or a stiletto through the eye after a passion-filled night topped the lists. Meanwhile, the stories grew and bards wove fantastic and bawdy tales of Bondi’s adventures. One bard, however, did not tell their tales that way. They composed songs about the lovers Bondi abandoned, the sorrows they faced without him, and the children that grew up fatherless. Bondi laughed it off and few people paid that bard any attention. Years passed and while that bard faded away, the songs remained albeit changed in subtle ways becoming tales of cosmic fate and horror. Bondi was no longer laughing. In some cities, he was accosted by urchins claiming he was their father. This grew until all children with unknown fathers were Bondi’s. A mercenary company found comradeship for a similar reason and called themselves Bondi’s Bastards. One of their “in-jokes” was to call the time between contracts “on the hunt for Bondi.” Bondi took this rather seriously and went into hiding any time Bondi’s Bastards were in the area. Eventually, he took to avoiding the entire south half of the Yollande Sea and joined up with a shipping company out of Urgundheim. When they were exchanging cargo at Nyenille he took a lucrative job with a caravan heading east. It was years before he came back to the area, reappearing at the fort of Nowvnille. A little road weary, but still handsome for his age. A few people he’d shared some adventures with invited him along for some contract work near Franshold. At the completion of the contract, the group took liberty in Clusnille. He was last seen alive in the company of a courtesan from Inarasdottir. The last stanza of one of the songs about Bondi meeting his end played out for true. He had the hubris to announce his own name after laying with the courtesan who happened to be his own daughter by a lover he’d abandoned. He died of a slit throat while dressing himself to leave.
