Unicorn Slayer

Slaying a unicorn is no easy feat, especially since they began to travel and live in careful herds. In the early days, it was done to procure the precious essences and panaceas of the unicorn bodies, which were weak and took great magics to preserve. The products were far inferior to the ones available via the living unicorn networks. Now that the living unicorns provide a more potent ingredient base, the trade has become something far more sinister. With the political strife caused by the Creed of Unity, the trade of Unicorn Slayer serves as a countermeasure for the Hunicorn Hunters.   Once considered a necessary evil, peoples of the World were accepting of the trade, and so it was legal if viewed as disgraceful. After thousands of years of acceptance, the Herd showed how inferior the products were that came of it, and plunged it into further disgrace. Centuries of proving superior products with the preservation of the life that donated to it have changed many steadfast consumers to also damn the trade. Within the binding contract of the Creed of Unity, the trade is wholely and completely illegal. Adventurers the world over favor the superior product, and won't even consider the inferior, due to the extreme affordability of the better items.   Along with those bound by the C.U., peoples who use the products frequently, or are saved by them will often consider unicorn slayers as traitors to life and wellness, shunning and sometimes executing Slayers as enemies. Slayers, as a trade, have since found themselves with skill sets largely unwanted by the populace. Many have become Stable hands at the unicorn grooming facilities, and employ the item creation sets of skills to the positive side of the trade. Those who did not possess such alchemical or magical ability, and shun grooming as a dull waste of time, have decided to ply their trade in a more nefarious manner. They will slay unicorns to free those from the Creed of Unity that no longer wish their realm bound by it. As the modern age approached, and after the first rumored Black Snowfall massacre, the trade has picked up in value and respect, though it may be some time before those plying it can hold their heads up once again.

Other Benefits

Oddly, though the magic rapidly leaves the beast when it is slain, the one who slays a unicorn grows stronger in whatever attribute was their finest. Whether this was reflexes, looks, speed, strength, intelligence, and so forth doesn't seem to matter as it will grow with every kill. If many participate in a single slaying, all will gain an equal fraction of the side effect.
