In the dawning of the era of the Black Snow, a so forth named of the world overlords shall fall from grace and rise to meet a new world unfurling. They shall Hold the world without clutching and See the Age of Preparation for the unraveling of the World. When on tides of black void ride eons minds to swallow the world, this one will rise again to greet the challenge with precious heroes wrought from hard-won warmth. Should these fall without Worlds love to bring them might, the World and all its light will entreat the gorging of Elder Hungers. So say the voices of time, so say us all.

Summary

It's absolutely true. The time of the prophecy is now and technically began four years earlier.

Historical Basis

Spoken before the time of the tears, and found only recorded in the ruins of the dragons of the Vision Inlet, stored in murals on their temple and library walls, this prophecy was all the rage 100,000 years BME (Before Modern Era). Folk thought the tears would bring it, but when nothing came of them that resembled Black Snow, and no black unicorns were born, and all that arrived proved to be irrelevant, time forgot it.

Spread

At the time of its telling, it spread far and wide, and everyone would look to the sky with a shiver. This lasted for 1,001 years. The prophecy was stored away in archives.   It was dredged up at the time of the tears and retold for 10,001 years. Then left to dust amongst all except the dedicated and the unicorns, whom it affected most. After that point, due to the global spread, each region treated it as a popular story of fiction.   Sunken in time and ruin, only the most dedicated sages and historians have a copy somewhere in their collections outside the Sea of Heavy Sighs. Since ninety thousand years passed without an episode, and no black unicorns were born in the world outside of corruption or magic, and since black snow has never fallen, the peoples decided it was a false prophecy and forgot it. Continuing only to treat it as fiction, and modifying it in infinite variations to suit whatever popular demand or need.

Variations & Mutation

Those who sail on astral thoughts and feed on worlds have a counter, that a Unicorn of Darkness though not evil will bring about their destruction should their agents fail when their Black Ashen Herald falls upon its home. Homes are small, but threats are not, so it had a mixed reception.   In World, folk have turned it into a folk tale, altering it almost as many times as it has been told. Some variation has likely been encountered in some form or another by all, and a renaissance has arisen with the delving of ruins deep in the Sea of Heavy Sighs as recent events brought the murals to light once again.

Cultural Reception

At the time of its telling people took it very seriously and in great reverence. At the time of its fruition, it is unlikely more than a scattered few take it seriously and diligently restore recordings of it.

In Literature

Some write and rewrite it in tomes and scrolls, though most think it a popular fiction nowadays, and alter it to suit their fancy as done in ages past.

In Art

Some tapestries and art are kept up and remade though most forget it is a prophecy if they remember what the images mean at all, and only the ruined halls of the dragon kingdoms of the Vision Inlet keep it safe in ageless murals. The rest has had extensive artistic liscense taken with it, yours for only two coppers! No? One copper...? It's legendary!
