Death, Dying, and Revival
Death is a process everyone has to experience and go through. Death in the Black Marble is different than death in most worlds. When someone dies, they appear into a bleached-out replica of the Black Marble known as the White Marble, a realm out of my jurisdiction.
Dying
To those who are dying in the Black Marble, the consensus, like Earth, is mixed. To the adventures who won't take no, death is just another hurdle to jump over. They can either wait for someone passing by to revive them or apply for resurrection in a sanctioned hospital that approves these. To those who believe their time has come, they will stay in the White Marble.Death
In the Realm of the Dead, the dead are stripped from who they are and appear as clothed shapes with no form or appearance. The dead don't wander that much, to some, they enjoy the peace and free from the stress the Black Marble puts on them. It is a dull place to live compared to the Black Marble, but a relaxing one at that. There is only one land in the White Marble, the Dreamland of the Dead, which has no name but verbally said with uncomfortable silence. Getting to the Dreamland of the Dead is uncomfortable because all you have to travel is either by a leisure-paced ferry or by swimming, which would explain why there are many camps in populous cities.Revival
Revival is easy to do, but it is not as cheap. To be revived, the dead in question must give an offering to the concept of rebirth. They will send a message for a registered doctor for them to perform a resurrection ritual, which takes an hour per body. Revival makes a list, and it is up to the Resurrection Doctor to pick who gets revived first.

Interesting approach. The standard D&D/ Fantasy game has priestly resurrections rather than doctors or petition from the dead. What about ghosts or lingering spirits? Do they exist? Or are they something else than the dead?
Thank you for asking Mutterwolf, I'll break it down as much as I can. Ghosts do exist. They are beings in the White Marble that people in the Black Marble can hardly see. When a being in the White Marble is strong enough, they become the paranormal that interacts with things in the Black Marble. Though I did write myself in a predicament where no one dies, the only to truly die in the Black Marble is to be forgotten by everyone, even by the people that loved them. Also, I use the term "doctors" very loosely when describing who could be revived. I should've said the professions that practice medicine. Thank you, and I apologize for the lengthy comment.
