Civilization and Culture

History

Humanity's origins are to this day unknown. They inhabited the Known World since forever. According to the Immortal Hexagon, humans, along with every part of nature, was created by Mjorna, the First Immortal. Although unconfirmed, it is a widely popular belief among humans. Early records of humanity's existence indicate that at first all human nations were united into a single one -Numonia- divided into city-states. These city-states became more and more autonomous as years went by and, at around 1050 PrI, they were formed into individual countries.   For many years, the human race thrived undisturbed on the Known World. This changed, however, when in around 900 PrI elven ships docked at the rocky coasts of Goherar. What few records remain of that time illustrate that colonization was their cause of travel, without causing conflict. Humanity though perceived this as invasion and declared war on the elves. The Human-Elf war lasted for over a century, with humanity outmatching the "invaders", although taking many losses. The war ended with the Truce of Othuqatt in around 865 PrI, with humanity subjucating the elves to their will and might. In return, the elves were granted the continent of Iulsat, a land long abandoned by the humans due to infertile land and monster infesting it.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Since the human race is the oldest one in the Known World, it is the most dominant. Because of that, they feel superior and more powerful towards the other races. This is extremely apparent in their relationship with the elves, who humans treat with great disdain and arrogance. Their relations with the half-men is even worse, who at best are treated with disdain and at worst with burning hate and hostility. On the other hand, they treat dwarves with respect, although prejudiced. Lastly, they bred a deep hatred for the mandrakes, since their superiority was indisputable, but in the same time feared them, for they wielded enough power to set Numonia aflame.
