Kjott

Is not a building perse.
The temples of the gods are circular. They represent the circle of life and death, therefore, it is also a place of healing.
Inside a great statue of the patron of the settlement is facing south, towards the sun (except Syllir, who is facing the north as she keeps the cold wind at bay). Around the statue, there is a corridor to pray and high walls closing the cylindrical structure.
Around the temple, at the open, the terrain is divided into quarters.
At the east, representing the birth, is where sacred totems are erected to protect the newborn and children. Flowers and jewels are hung from these totems so they move with the wind and give protection.
Facing south and representing the youth, it is where the altars are. It might seem unintuitive at first, as the ancestors have already perished, however, the south is also related to good health, and protection, heat, and happiness, thus the ancestors are placed on the good side, sort of speak. In the western quarter and representing maturity dwarf trees and plants are placed. The elderly take care of it and is also a place to hear stories.
Finally facing north, representing death, there is nothing, except a single stone with carvings for protection from really bad winters.
In every temple, there is at least a monk, in charge of it and as a religious guide as well as an apprentice coming from a distant land to learn. In bigger temples, there might be more. At the end of every week, families gather to bring offerings to their ancestors.
When a person is really sick from a dark malady such as the aide or the putrea, it is brought to that sacred place, where the monk and the novice use their chants to ask for help from the guiding spirits.
When the stars are correct the healing can work with even the worst of illnesses.
When they are not... Who knows...
