Hanša
A team sport similar to Baseball, but played without a bat. It can be played on the ground or in the air.
It is the most popular sport on the continent, with Baseball coming in second.
History
The full history is unclear but its suspected that it was invented by children studying at the monastery in Ihakālē around 1023.
For centuries it was played in the air only but the ground variant was officially recognised in 5489.
There are over 200 teams over the entire continent and the number is growing.
Execution
Each team has 9 players on the field and 2-7 on the benches in case players need to be switched out.
There are 10 turns in total with a 15 minute break after 5 and the game goes on until all 10 turns are done.
Like in Baseball, there is an inner and an outer field and 4 bases but unlike in Baseball the field is a square.
The defending team is scattered across the inner field around a ring on a pole that is 3m high in the ground variant and 10m when played in the air.
The scoring team is lined up behind the starting line.
The first player throws the ball, slightly smaller than a baseball and lighter, into the inner field and runs to the first base.
The defending team now has to pick up the ball, or catch it mid air (the players in the outer field are still allowed to run if this happens) and throw it through the ring in the middle of the field. Once the ball passed through the ring all players in the outside field have to be on a base or they have to go back to the beginning.
If a player manages to complete the field the team gets one point. If it all happens in one go they get 3 points.
Each player in the throwing team has three tries, so the process is repeated 27 times for each team and the maximum of points in one round is 243. So far it has only been achieved once that a team actually got the highest amount of points in one turn possible.
After everyone has thrown three times the teams switch sides.
