The Pilgrim Hostel
The Pilgrim Hostel is a temple of Ninwana located in Theol. It acts as a free hospital for the poor pilgrims who make the journey to Theol, and serves equally all who come to its doors.
The physicians of the Pilgrim Hostel rely on both magical and mundane methods of healing, with a corps of highly skilled apothecaries who are always trying to find new ways to heal illnesses and mend broken bodies. In addition, the Pilgrim Hostel acts as a medical school, the most advanced one in the Kingdom of Tiveldech, and doctors trained here make there way all across the land. Most of the new physicians are inducted into the Creed of the Society Gods as priests of Ninwana, but some remain secular.
Purpose / Function
Originally just one of the temples of the Society Gods, it still serves this purpose, with a large temple area in the center, but most of the rest of the structure is used to care for the sick and injured. The followers of Ninwana do not charge their patients, instead relying on the donations of their wealthier clients, and tithes taken from worshippers.
Alterations
Over the years what was once a simple temple has been turned into a massive complex with various wards and operation theaters. Most of the additions are made of white quarried stone.
History
The Hostel has stood through out the history of the Theolese Theocracy and survived the cataclysms at the end of the Second Era. It continued in its purpose throughout the dark days, and into the Third Era, taking its place as one of the few institutions to survive through the years.
