Trudging Through the Storm
Vandre’s weather sense tingled ever so slightly as the group entered a thick forest outcrop on the way towards
Stojanow Gate. Low thunder rumbled far off and before long the group trudged through muddy woodland floor, but it didn’t darken their spirits. Rejoicing in their good luck of being back together, the group joked and laughed, right up until growling darkness halted their procession. Suddenly, rabid wolfen beasts beset them, and they sprang to defend their goods and friends.
Araphant and
Roderick made quick work of a small pack of the beasts, as Vandre became attracted to something else.
Through a dense thicket, Vandre spied a ruined tower, rubble, and … something else. The group battled on, but he delicately made his way through the brambles, lifted and moved the heavy stones, and finally, after much effort, revealed a large, luminescent, green orb. It felt warm in his hands, but didn’t seem to effect him in any adverse ways. Enchanted by his new bauble, he almost missed the calls for help from further down the road.
Unsteady Footing
As
Eschelon expertly guided their horse and carriage through the slick mud, defending its contents against the raging beasts,
Ho-Gun climbed atop a slick rock, steadying himself, he spied a desperate scene, a family of wayward travelers, set upon by the wolves, one of their horses already dead, the other stuck in a thick sludge of mud. The rest of the
Minstrels ran forth, Vargas climbing the same rock, balancing himself with uncanny skill, and firing devastating arrows around the battlefield, while Roderick, Araphant, and Ho-Gun disposed of the other enemies. When the rain cleared, Eschelon tended to the wounded father, head of six people they discovered, his wife, two children, nephew and brother.
A Family's Plight
Threats eliminated, the travelers told the story of how they came from
Summershaw, heading north for new opportunities after the battle of the bridge. But they were seemingly not welcomed in
Anghor Thom, as instead, they strove further north, towards
Anghor Dum, and a small lake just to its south, where the patriarch knew a family member there.
The Minstrels agreed to accompany the townsfolk to Stojanow Gate, to both safeguard them, and hopefully negotiate their way through the
Red Regiment’s check point, since they discover the disconcerting fact the family does not have any papers to pass.
