Falkeswin Organization in Beyond Brumefringe | World Anvil

Falkeswin

Falkeswin is the kingdom which both supplies the ship and flag for the player's expedition. Rich in history, tradition, and spared many of the horrors experienced on the continent proper, Falkeswin hopes to reclaim it's former prestige through rapid modernization of it's grand fleet.

Structure

Falkeswin operates as a constitutional monarchy. While the King still has great influence, the Eastern League Wars led to a series of civil conflicts that led to the creation of Falkeswin's parliament. The parliament holds official state power, but as most members are chosen from the royalty and nobility, the royal family, and thus the King, still holds a great deal of indirect power. Certain military powers were granted back to the crown during the Steel War, allowing King Linneland IV to reform Falkeswin's navy after the war.

Public Agenda

Falkeswin wishes to recover it's overseas territories lost in previous wars. While the nation was spared much of the heavier devastation of the Steel War, it has become increasingly isolated from the rest of the continent. Trade has slowed. Falkeswin has embarked on a modernization of their fleet to once again exert pressure on trade and bring great wealth back to Falkeswin.

Assets

Falkeswin still boasts the largest Navy in Edeoxes. While much of their overseas holdings have been lost, they are still a very significant power and their homeland was spared many of the horrors of the Steel War, giving them at least some edge against the continental nations in rebuilding. Still, they are heavily reliant on trade and resources are not vast on the island nation, so their reduced capacity to control and steer trade has brought times of turmoil.

History

Most historians consider the Armistace of Matham as the birth of the modern Falkish state. The Armistace, signed by King Athelard II, not only brought peace among the nations of Edeoxes but united the Falkish lords under Athelard. (Pre-Cataclysm history is not covered here, for brevity).
Falkeswin quickly became the world's eminent naval power, dominating from the northern reaches of the Icebrume all the way to Akend and the Regent Sea. Crucial islands and outposts gave them a wide reach, and skilled diplomats allowed Falkish ships safe passage through the more treacherous shallows of the eastern Regent Sea, or at the very least free trade with those nation states that blocked passage.
Falkeswin's history is touched on in the main world timeline - please read those events until this section is expandd.

Territories

Falkeswin, currently, is mostly relegated to their own island nation. It still maintains some overseas outposts, but has lost many of its holdings in the Regent Sea and nearly everything it held on the continent of Edeoxes proper. There are still some reported outposts beyond the Brumefringe, but given the nature of the Beyond it is difficult to know if they are intact.

Foreign Relations

Falkeswin enjoys a very close relationship with The Kingdom of Marcineaux, though that was not always the case. Falkeswin has cool relations with Trestav, and worse official relations with Vorovia. With most other nations they are cordial. There is a certain calm and peace, even with less favorable nations, as worries of sparking another conflict like the Steel War plague all nations. Still, Falkeswin has very cool relations with overseas kingdoms as a result of their previous naval power which was used to bully many trade partners on Akend and Shokinkazi.

Legislative Body
Falkeswin has a parliament that decides the laws, but it shares power with the King and an assortment of lords that are mostly aligned with his interests. While the parliament is the ultimate body for the creation of laws and government, it is shared with the King in ways that do create some tension.
