It's 2043. Climate Change has exceeded all predictions after catastrophic incidents released an incomprehensible amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The world is unrecognisable.   The USA and Southern Europe are arid, inhospitable deserts alongside almost all of South America and Africa. A large proportion of sea ice has melted, leaving Canada, Northern Europe, New Zealand and West Antarctica are now the only habitable areas on Earth. These habitable areas were quickly filled with densely populated, high-rise cities.   Technology has similarly advanced, cybernetic implants are commonplace and hackers are in higher demand than ever. The first realistic androids are being introduced and city-wide surveillance systems are everywhere.   Amidst this chaos is Berkner, the Capital City of West Antarctica. Intended to be the model city in the wake of the climate disaster, it quickly spiralled into a hub for the world's criminals - as corrupt corporations run every aspect of its administration and every government official is easily bribed.   Welcome to Berkner - the finest city on Earth.
