Berkane
The Blood of the World
The first humans to be shaped by Ashal were the Berkane. Touched by the powerful forces at the birth of the world, their bodies became attuned to Fire, Earth, and Water, the elemental building blocks that form the material world. Their command over their given element has waned over the centuries though those who share this Bloodline still carry a certain affinity. Berkane who display an above average level of manifestation are easily discernible by the vibrant leilines of elemental energy that mark a combination of their arms, neck, and face in patterns of swirling colours in line with the element to which they’re attuned. The peak manifestations can cause a person to begin to embody their elemental attunement in some form.Berkane Costuming
The berkane show elemental features from the world around them. The most common elemental markings that show up are Green, Red or Blue. Some berkane however will physically manifest the elements themselves.
Costuming options
Elemental Marking: Based on the element (earth, fire, water) pick a color from green, red, or blue. Lines and geometric patterns and swirls of the selected color appear on the body. They should be present on at least 2 locations chosen from, face, neck, and arm. Woad body painting can be used for inspiration.
Elemental manifestation: Your chosen element can manifest physically in some creative way. This can be done using prosthetics/ make up artistry or a combination. This can also be combined into costuming. Below are some elemental inspirations.
Earth: Leaves, Vines, Bark, Natural Crystals, Stone
Fire: Ash, charcoal, flames
Water: Ice, foam, Pale or blueing skintone
