Swamp of the Temple

Written by Martin Ludwell, edited by Smidgen
The swamp is large, the ground is waterlogged, Willow and Beech flourish among the mangrove plants. Well, on Millessia the plants would be called Willow, Beech, and Mangrove except, all the plants have purple mottling or sheen on the leaves and the swamp is too far from the ocean for Mangroves, as well as being too temperate for the Millessian Mangrove. The Willow trees are actually a carnivorous plant that has snares under the mud which cause the plants to whip upward and drag the hapless victims under the water. Only the Beech trees act and appear largely as their Millessian versions.

Geography

the land has a slight dip in it, particularly in the center of the area, which has allowed water to accumulate over the centuries. under the water the thick mud is supported on a less permeable area which makes the area a perfect location for a swamp. The Swamp slowly drains through a meandering river on the south east side.

Fauna & Flora

Will-o-the-wisp: playful but apparently malicious balls of light that lead targets towards dangerous situations. Drowning Willow: appearing as a weeping willow that is bent low in the water, any creature that approaches the tree too closely will be snared by a root noose and dragged quickly under the water. non organic material that is grabbed in this way may be released after a period of time (about two minutes) unless they are moving.

Natural Resources

Fish, water birds, and plant life is the most obvious groups of resources in the swamp. Peat may be found on the southern end of the swamp.
