Storm brand Plot

Written by Martin Ludwell, edited by Smidgen
Finding the former fishing town on the coast at the mouth of the river, near the center of town is a statue half buried in dirt, the upper body is lacking detail but the base was buried early enough that the name can be copied to be read later. Near the village a forest is found, in which are intelligent spider creatures that need to be defended against or forced to move. After the threat is removed the forest will be a good source of timber for building, especially the village but also for boats and barges. Buried in the sand a child finds an odd looking helmet of bronze, this is the first sign of the mer people off shore. In the Delta is a temple to the protector of the coast, a spear wielding humanish creature of immense size. this temple has Ten items that will allow people to breathe underwater. The Town is settled and disaster avoided, for now.

Plot points/Scenes

Temple is sighted in the Delta, not entered as it seems sealed. Town ruins are found next to Delta, obviously abandoned for a long time, wooden sections gone, only stone is left. Dunes fill many sections of structures, and the town itself. In the center of town, near a large structure, is the statue of the Goddess of Rivers, but she is hard to make out except where the sand has buried her plinth, on this they find her name, Morgaine, Queen of Rivers and the Dead, chooser of the valiant. Return to the Bridgehead is interrupted by an attack of Giant spiders with human level intelligence. the Storm Circle make it back to the encampment, which is now a walled encampment with several thousand tents erected. After they submit their findings to the Seekers of Knowledge they are awarded the right to set up a town, in the ruins they found on the coast. when the first wave of colonists arrive they are allowed to seek volunteers to set up a village, including foresters and boat builders. They then escort the colonists to the shore and begin the collection of wood for the barracks that need to be built, a forestry camp needs to be set up, as well as a pier, and boat building operation. Fishing will be done from shore, to supplement the food brought from the home world. When the barracks are finished the forestry camp will also be established, Dench, Varence, Esmeralda, and Keth will be there to arrange its defense when a group of woodsmen rush in telling of an attack by the intelligent spiders. The other members of the Circle are sent messages while the half circle attempts to find a way to force the spiders away. Battle ensues, the spiders retreat north. End of first plot sees a child find an odd bronze helmet buried in the sand on the shore.

Past Events

The Town that will be named Stormton is settled on the foundations of a town that the original people of this world had lived in for more than a millennia, it was a trading hub, providing contact with foreign lands, and fish. Being the best harbor in the north of the land of Aire it was a major city at one stage, but that was a thousand years ago. The people were ordered underground by the gods, those that ignored the call perished in the magic storm that hit the world. Buildings burned and then froze as the ice ran over the world, it has taken hundreds of years for the ice to retreat. The city is now a ruin, and only the strongest buildings even show above the ground.
