Ratters Guild

Written by Martin Ludwell, edited by Smidgen
"We'se in der swers all da time, ne'er do us any bad,", the rat catcher spat out, around his mouthful of cheese. "Look, you are ... better at being down there, but most people need to stay away from the sewers, they will get sick," the ratter nodded at the young priest. "Right, pipple shooden go dahn there, it's our kinda place,". "Right, so everyone, listen to our friend from the Ratters Guild, don't go down to the sewers, leave it to people like him and the sewer workers,". with that the officious young priest left the bar. The ratter watched him leave out of the corner of his eye. When the priest had left the ratter opened his bag. "Okay, I got goods for sale, rat bodies and other stuff, who has silver?" and with that he began to sell things 'Lost' by people around the city. And dead rats, as animal food, or people food.

Structure

Every city has a chief ratter, or Big Cheese, who runs both sides of the guild. They will have as many lieutenants as they feel they need, often dividing the city/town into regions. The Guild is an autocracy ruled like the crime gang it is.

Public Agenda

clear the cities of rats

Assets

most thieves in a city or town will be members, especially after getting caught by a member.

History

began in Parisseum in the third century of the Empire to help keep the number of rats in the city down, it was literally a coalition of rat catchers who would help each other and spent most of their time in the sewers. Over time they kept running across Thieves and Beggars hiding in the sewer. At the Dawn of the Fourth century they absorbed the various thief gangs and beggars into their guild, they then used terror and rewards to keep the thieves and beggars in line, and safe from the town guard. The Guild was very successful at keeping rat numbers down, and trading in goods 'Found in the Sewers' so they spread to every city in the Empire. In the Fifth century the Faceless Empress began contacting the guild to provide people to act as spies and trap finders for her army, she made it clear, keep the greed to a manageable level and she will not interfere with them. There has been an alliance of sorts between the ratter's guild and the Empire ever since.
