Major language groups and dialects

High Elven, or just Elven, is the only major language spoken by the race. Many will also speak Millessian, and all diplomats and leaders will know this language.

Once the High Elves ruled the world, they gave it away (If you ask them) but know they could take it back if they needed.

a high elf resists getting earth on themselves, this has become a reluctance to get dirty. High Elves view themselves as natural leaders.

Common Etiquette rules

Always offer your guest the opportunity to choose which glass/drink they will partake from. Always be magnanimous to other races, for you live longer, are more intelligent and better looking.

Common Dress code

Knee length and tight Tunics worn over leggings or trousers. High collared cloaks are used when travelling.

Art & Architecture

a piece of music, a photorealistic painting, abstract painting to explore color, or light. they do not carve in stone or anything so permanent. Their buildings look like they have no strength, but they survive snow and high winds easily.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Always give people choices, but prepare for the outcome. amongst themselves they always offer wine with conversation, with others they offer Tea.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Birthing suites are always up high, and the newborn is held up to a window so the first sight of the world is from that vantage point.

Coming of Age Rites

they perform in front of an audience at least a thousand strong. the performance is their own choice.

Funerary and Memorial customs

When a high elf dies their brain is removed from the corpse, which is then treated as empty trash. the Brain is preserved and kept in a special gallery in their city. A painting of the Elf is on display for a century, then burned.

Common Taboos

being covered by dirt means they are encased in Earth and they will lose their ephemeral beauty.

Common Myths and Legends

High Elves are the true descendants of the Syll, the primordial Elves. the other races of Millessia are twisted from the form of elf. Twisted by Chaos.

Beauty Ideals

lightness of build and coloration, very angular features, high forehead. they opt for an ephemeral beauty.

Gender Ideals

Women tend towards the Priest and rulership roles, males tend to be Wizards and Warriors, many males have taken leadership roles, but only in times of turmoil.

Courtship Ideals

Love is the ideal, two meet and fall in love, then they marry. in truth two are introduced, an almost mercantile weighing of the benefits takes place, and marriage may ensue.

clear definitions of power distribution and a partnership in the family.

Major organizations

Millessian Empire, her Imperial majesty is obviously a High Elf, though she does not show this to anyone. The Temple of the Circle is founded on Elven principles, and the High Elves are descended from the servants of the Gods.
