Circle of Greeting

Written by Martin Ludwell, edited by Smidgen
As the Lost travel around the camping grounds they greet each other, raising a hand with their thumb and forefinger in a circle, and the other fingers spread. It was a familiar movement that brought comfort to them.

History

This dates back to the incorporation of the Darklan Empire into the Millessian Empire, when it was found that the Darklan worshiped in a way different to the Millessian. So that Millessian worshipers could identify themselves. It was only used when meeting someone you do not know. Since arrival on the new world it is used constantly, usually only when you first meet someone in a day, but also if you are genuinely made happy at meeting them.

Execution

one hand is lifted and the forefinger and thumb are brought together in the shape of a circle with the other fingers spread out.

Participants

Those who follow the Divine Circles are the only participants. It is seen as saying that you will help who you signal in this way.

Observance

on meeting someone for the first time that day.
