Tyrannus Crown Item in Belthuran | World Anvil

Tyrannus Crown

Any dragon can be something that strikes awe and terror into someone, but there is only one dragon who wears the crown and there is no mistaking it. The Tyrannus crown when not worn appears as a golden band that sits at the base of a dragon's horns. When worn and the dragon is accepted by the crown it changes, the metal turning liquid and then conforming over the top of the dragon's head maintaining the details but now covering it in gold, this also includes the horns. This is the surface level, beyond that the crown becomes linked to the Arcane presence and soul of the dragon letting them link into the power of the crown, which serves to carry the burden of the World Forger's power when not being called upon. Heavy is the head that wears this crown for calling on such power comes at a cost and can be nearly fatal for even the strongest of dragons.   The Tyrannus crown is able to determine if the dragon putting on the crown is worthy of it, and has rejected candidates before, the most notable being the Ashen King who led to the fall of the Draz Tyran. The Tyrannus crown can only ever be worn by a dragon, any other attempting it will find themselves removed from existence, their body turned to dust, it is not clear what happens to the soul, some assume the crown consumes it.

Manufacturing process

This process is only known to the World Forger and while there have been attempts to create something similar they all pale in comparison.

Significance

The Tyrannus crown is the symbol of the Tyrannus, the emperor of the Draz Tyran but it is far beyond that. The crown was forged by the World Forger and given to the Firstborn to give to the most worthy dragon during the events of the The Reckoning of Gods. The Tyrannus becomes a conduit for a tiny fraction of the World Forger's power, and even that is dangerous to even the most powerful of dragons.
