The Exhibition/Virtuoso's Vault
What was once known as Virtuoso's Vault has since become the Exhibition. There is a great deal of cultural importance to this building, being one of the few buildings of the Ancient Draz Tyran to survive not only the collapse of the empire but the pillaging and destruction of the dragon hunters and treasure seekers. It was found by Vartoris'Nemal and shown to Aren'Valesh during the early years of the hunters, together they were able to restore the building using the ancient knowledge of the keepers, with the guardians refreshed and full access to the vault the two now had a safe haven. Between the ancient guardians and wards and the fact at this point in history, the lands of Xalandis were scoured of life, (save for Xoln which was protected by the Tyrannus star) by the rage of the pre-ascension god of vengeance.
After the Tyrannus came to power again and life restored to Xalandis what was once a vault, then a haven has now become the Exhibition a place to share the ancient culture of the Draz Tyran with the current generation of the empire.
Purpose / Function
The purpose of the structure has always been as a way to display works of art, sculptures, paintings, murals, tapestries, plays, and any other sort of art. Early on it was made as a place to store the more valuable cultural pieces of art of the Draz Tyran, the original copies were placed within the vault to be kept safe from age, weathering, and the tampering of others.
Now the structure has two purposes it serves as the home of the Flight of Vartoris'Nemal and as the Exhibition, while the vault is still intact and the true originals are safely locked away the dragons and kobolds there have spent a long time being able to make replicas of nearly every piece of art held within the vault and they display them for those of the Draz Tyran to come see.
Alterations
The structure has expanded with new additions to include an amphitheater, observatory, planetarium (also doubles for planar knowledge), and of course, the homes for the dragons who call the Exhibition their home.
Architecture
The building is very old and with it the style of the ancient Draz Tyran, they favor a blend of form and function so every buttress is made into a mural. The sides of the main building start off with a mural of carved stone fit together without the need for mortar using precise joint work, it depicts the trees reaching up to the sky, then further up to several dragons in poses with their wingtips pointed up to the sky while they looked out around the tower, these are referred to as the guardians. Up further still into the central tower are constellations and depictions of the moons before finally at the very top a massive golden sun enchanted to never lose its luster and it can be seen for miles.
The stone is a unique mix of black marble and gold, the process of how it was created a secret of the ancient Draz Tyran but where white might be in black marble it is instead a rich gold that shines brilliantly. The guardians use a similar process except they depict different colored dragons. The tower being in the shape of a decagon has a guardian of each color on the side, the metallic colors are the mix of black marble and the metal, while the chromatic colors are the black marble with gemstones instead of metal, ruby for red, pearl for white and so on.
The front doors are massive, as they would have to be able to hold the dragons who live there and visit. The entire structure is larger than most castles, it is an example of why dragons do not make use of many traditional buildings but in this case, it needed to be something grand.
