Feralism in Lycanthropes

Transmission & Vectors

Being bitten by a Lycanthrope.

Causes

Everyone knows the stories of someone being bitten by a werewolf and turning into a blood thirsty monster bent on killing their loved ones and innocent at night in many places they are feared greatly. This type of Lycanthrope is known as a Feral, affected by the Feralism that comes with the curse of lycanthropy.

Symptoms

Loss of self reverting to the primal instincts of the type of Lycanthrope that bit them.

Treatment

It took a long time for the natural-born Lycanthropes of the Lycan Commune in Rhyderia to develop a means to deal with Feralism, and while not a perfect cure for the affliction they were aided by the Cult of the Firstborn in coming up with a means to stop the Feralism once and for all in those newly bitten.   After someone is bitten by a Lycanthrope they must spend the next year of their life under the watch of another Lycanthrope of the same kind, if they were a willing convert then the one who turned them takes responsibility for them if they were attacked and came to the commune for help they are assigned to one of their numbers. It is this chaperones job to teach the new Lycanthrope their ways and also contain their feral instincts by asserting themselves as the Alpha. On the anniversary of their being bitten, they are taken to an isolated area by their chaperone who brings a silver dagger and a specially blended potion that contains many ingredients, not all are known. This is one of the hardest parts of being a chaperone because if it isn't done right the convert may die, or be lost to feralism forever and need to die.   The chaperone must use the silver dagger to bring the convert to near-death under the light of a full moon and force them to drink the potion that will stabilize their life but also inflicts terrible pain on the convert as whatever malignant part of the curse is burned away. Should the process be successful after a lengthy recovery time the convert will be a true lycanthrope no longer burdened with Feralism. Should it fail the convert either dies from the experience or when their chaperone kills them to prevent a feral lycanthrope from escaping into the wilds.   All of this is made painfully clear to those seeking to be turned into a Lycanthrope.
