Coven of the Firstborn
There are many secretive groups in the world, and the Coven of the Firstborn ranks among the most secretive. While their members make no effort to hide their membership they prefer to be observers when possible. If forced into a conflict they are frighteningly effective combatants with either magical or martial means but only killing when absolutely necessary. That said they are not afraid to maim a transgressor.
Many rumors exist about them given their secretive nature it is only natural for wild speculation to attempt to fill in blanks. They are seen as lawful having never been found committing a crime, on the contrary, they have been known to help apprehend lawbreakers. Many think that they can see through a person into their very soul and see unlawful actions or if they are a danger. Some adventuring groups take meeting one as a sign that they are destined for something great, for the Coven of the Firstborn only truly involves itself in important matters.
Many believe that the Coven of the Firstborn is part of the power behind a ruler of a land, given that the Firstborn is often associated as being the God of Kings and rulers. They are then assumed to be there to enforce the 'divine right to rule' that some rulers claim to have. It is hard to say for certain if that is true but even the rumor is so powerful that should a ruler hear of the Coven's interest in an area they will often be allowed to conduct their business unmolested as the ruler feels believes they are there with a purpose benefitting them.
Public Agenda
"We ensure the proper order of the world." This is all that any member of the coven has ever provided to the question of what they do and what they want. They never elaborate beyond this.
