The Golden Priest
Requirements
To be the Golden Priest, one must be a well-regarded priest within the Human Faith within the Golden City. They also must be well-liked by the current Golden Ruler.
Appointment
The Golden Priest is appointed by the Golden Ruler and holds a religious ceremony at the Church of the Golden Cross as he ascends to his position.
Duties
Despite not being part of the formal Golden Council, the Golden Priest is the spiritual adviser of the Golden Ruler, making sure that actions taken by the ruler fall within church doctrine.
Responsibilities
The Golden Priest is in charge of appointing both priests in the Golden City and the four deacons of the other sections of the empire. He also can make declarations that interpret the Codex in specific ways as to deal with pressing religious issues.
Benefits
The Golden Priest lives in the Golden Palace and has all the benefits of living as if he were royalty.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The Golden Priest has an elaborate gown and gloves that he must wear in all public appearances, along with a large hat that is worn on special occasions.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The High Priest can be dismissed either by the Golden Ruler if he finds that the spiritual state of the empire is in decay, or the High Priest can be rejected by God if his equipment burns to the touch.
Cultural Significance
The Golden Priest is considered the moral authority of the entire Golden Empire, especially by Centrums and Agrarans. He is also considered a major hypocrite by those outside of the Human Faith as he preaches about humility and austerity yet flaunts his position of wealth daily.
