Drell generally use soft sounds, with male names often ending in a consonant while females end their names with a vowel. The one exception is the letter "l," which is considered a more feminine letter to end on. They will take the last name of their closest female relative.

Female is considered the dominant gender in drell society because of their worship of Drowella. Women are almost always the only ones considered for positions of power, and men are considered necessary for child care.

Courtship Ideals

Courtship among the drell is initiated by the females as they select a male they deem attractive and begin to ply him with shows of power and wealth before offering the chance to marry her. If he deems her powerful and wealthy enough he will accept her hand in marriage to help her propagate her line.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Hair among drell men are kept short, especially among the upper class. However, exiled men, usually denoted by the surname "Excguis," are forbidden from cutting their hair as a reminder of their exile status. This leads to exiled men usually tied their hair up, especially if they have a particularly active job.

Supposedly the drell were once part of ancient elven society before being cast out for following Drowella. According to legend, the vast majority of drell trekked deep beneath the ground and found a city of stone among trees of stone. There they found new purpose as the guardians of inter-dimensional monks.   However, a group of drell stayed above ground and dispersed across the surface of Belkora, attempting to stay out of the sunlight as much as possible. After years of exile, some drell were able to enter wood elf society, but none have stepped foot in the The Ancient Woods since the ancient exile.

Common Myths and Legends

The drell have the myth of the lost city deep underground, made entirely of stone.
