Luxarn Temples

There is a temple to the god Lux in every major centre of population, whether city, town or region and there are two main reasons for this. Firstly, being a god whose spheres of influence include safe birth, reproduction, medicine, science, and good luck, unsurprisingly draws a large number of dedicated and occasional followers. Secondly, Luxarn Temples are often adjacent to or have a secondary purpose to act as a hospital or treatment centre with the temples clerics and followers providing the funding and medical expertise. Whether, setting broken bones, curing illness and disease or midwifery the clerics will undertake medical needs, great and small, natural and unnatural and are held in great esteem.   Commonly surrounding the temple buildings or situated nearby will be a cultivated patch of Lux's Trumpets and other medicinal herbs and plants.

Purpose / Function

Obviously being a temple, religious worship and important rites and rituals glorifying the god Lux are the main purpose, however, medical care, the promotion of health and well being amongst the congregation and wider populace is almost as important a function of temples.   Temples are also social hubs within the community, the usual weddings & naming rituals but also providing a place of comfort, company and food to those in need. To make their communities as inclusive as possible the poor and needy are not the only who come to feed and mingle; feasts and celebrations are prepared for all so the most desperate do not feel targeted or stand out as requiring help. Large buffets are prepared every evening; basic filling stews and soups for the most part. Most locals attending two or three times a week each and often brining along extra dishes or accompaniments.

Architecture

Functional rather then ceremonial, temple buildings are often blocky and always covered in a brilliant white alabaster plaster covering; in strong sunlight their dazzling reflection of sunlight gleams like a beacon.
