Imperial Palace of Ealance

The Imperial Palace of Ealance is a gigantic building complex serving as the seat of power for the Oroborian Empire and host to the dragon-monarchs and their court. The Imperial Palace stand at the top of a mountain just outside of Ealance and it's shadow shrouds much of the town bellow in permanent darkness.

Buildings

Council Hall

Located at the front of the complex, the Council Hall is used by Emperor Mithranto to hear the pleas of his imperial subjects and to receive council from both his advisers and children. The great hall is able to host several thousands of people at once, with the towering thrones of the Emperor and Empress looking over them from the end of the hall. The Emperor and Empress gather their council every solstice to be informed on the goings-on of the Empire and to be advised on important political and legal affairs. The Council Hall also hosts ambassadors from neighbouring kingdoms which the Oroborian Empire is on good terms with. Every year during several significant festivals the imperial children and the most influential inhabitants of the city of Ealance are invited to a large feast hosted by the dragon-monarchs and to witness Empress Isadora deliver her ceremonial speeches.

Archives

The archive is located in a spiralling tower on the east side of the Council Hall. Every wall is covered in books, scrolls, and parchments containing information going back thousands of years. The Royal Archivist and his team of scribes maintain these archives in perfect condition and are trained to memorise the entire archives's content in case the dragon-monarchs are looking for a certain document. Important scholars from across the Oroborian Empire are permitted to make use of the archives for research purposes. At the very top of the tower sits the forbidden section, containing information that the dragon-monarchs have deemed too dangerous for anyone but the most trusted subjects to know about.

Central Palace & Guesthouses

In the centre of the Imperial Palace complex stands the palace itself. A large round building inside of which only the dragon-monarchs, their children, and their personal caretakers are permitted to enter. Little is known of the Central Palace, though rumours tell of a magical waterfall which endlessly cascades down in the centre of the room. Attached to the Central Palace are the Guesthouses of dragon-princes inside of which they reside while visiting Ealance. Each building stands at three floors tall and is designed to be pleasing the dragon-prince's personal taste. Princess Veridi's guesthouse for example contains a large greenhouse at the very top where she can grow different kinds of plants and trees while that of Princess Myn-Xara has a barrack attached to the main house and features a training ground in its garden.

Gallery

Between the rooms of the imperial children are kilometres long galleries which link them to the central palace. The ground floor is designated for walking and allow the princes and their retinues to enjoy a look at the imperial gardens surrounding the palace. A room on the first floor is available for the dragon-princes to hold legal hearings and to display art from their own princedoms.

Treasury

Deep under the Imperial Palace sits the royal Treasury. A gigantic cave filled with piles of gold, weapons, and magical artefacts of which it is said that if ever the sun was the shine upon its content everyone seeing it would go blind by its radiance. A large force of treasurers keep track of the cave's content while an even larger army of servants ensure that the treasury, up to the last copper coin, is cleaned daily.
