The Grimoire of Hidden Knowledge

One of the duties of the Preservers of Truth is to guard and protect many precious artifacts of our goddess. In such a dangerous world, it could be catastrophic if these fell into the wrong hands. The Grimoire is one such item, and the Librarian watches over it with the care and determination with which he would protect his own child.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Grimoire is a large book with a dark leather cover and pages made of unique parchment. Upon opening the book, all one will see is blank pages, unsullied by quill or ink and untouched by knowledge. Appearances are, however, deceiving.
All one need do to activate the magic in the Grimoire is to ask a question. Once the question has been vocalized, words will begin to appear on the page to which the book is open, as if someone has taken quill in hand. The answer given will be thorough and precise, without flowery speech (unless such is called for). Some answers might be only a sentence or two, while others might fill pages. As one page is filled, it will turn to the next, continuing until the answer is fully completed.
The words will remain on the page(s) for exactly three days, giving enough time for copying, memorizing, or reflection. After those three days have passed, the words will quickly fade from the page, inaccessible from that point on. The one exception to this is the Librarian, who may at any point recall whatever information he chooses, the words once more appearing on the pages for three days before again fading.
There are some limitations to the magic in the Grimoire. It is unable to answer questions regarding emotions or thoughts. It is also unable to predict the future. The most important limitation is that only one question is allowed to an individual, ever. No one is able to access the Grimoire past that, making it of great importance that one ask a question to which one truly needs the answer.

Significance

This book is of great importance to the followers of Hidhania both religiously and intellectually. The knowledge that can be gleaned from the Grimoire is nearly limitless, and so it is vital that it remain in the possession of the followers of the goddess of knowledge.
