Ivkytis of the Wanderers

(a.k.a. Kyt)

Kyt is a human male from the Pack of the Wanderers, a nomadic tribe of Marthammor Duin’s followers. He set out alone to find someone close to him but eventually joined up with the rest of the party simply out of convenience.

Personality

Kyt is very compassionate and loves being around others, but his conversation skills leave something to be desired. As a result of this, he often is slow to feel comfortable engaging with other people. However, when he begins to develop a bond with someone, he feels a fierce loyalty to them, laying his life down to protect them if it comes to it.   Overall, Kyt is fairly sensible, with a good head on his shoulders, but rarely he can be susceptible to fits of uncontrollable rage, usually exacerbated by sustained stress or worry. During these episodes, he is not his usual caring self, but a danger to himself and others...

History

Kyt was found as a toddler in the woods outside of the town of Falreach by a Dragonborn man, Yunthir. The old man took the child back to his tribe, the Pack of the Wanderers, and gave him the name Ivkytis, meaning “fiery soul.” Kyt grew up traveling with the tribe, learning under Yunthir’s guidance. As he aged, he grew, learning how to hunt and survive on his own, but still struggling to strengthen his control over the animal spirit his own soul had bonded with.

Abilities

The Pack of the Wanderer is a tribe entirely consisting of druids. Each member, therefore, has an animal spirit that they form a connection with, allowing them to cast spells and shapeshift into various woodland creatures. Kyt was something of a prodigy in this sense, mastering these abilities much sooner than others, bonding very quickly with Avinta, his bound she-bear spirit. He is often seen in the shape of a brown bear, but he is known to take the form of other creatures on occasion (as he shifted into a dire wolf during the fight with Walter in the basement of Death House and has been known to shift into small animals like a squirrel or spider for scouting). Over years of dedication and hard work, Kyt has also learned to take advantage of the rage that his animal spirit induces. He unleashes the anger in a contained burst of ferocity that helps to fuel him in battle. However, Avinta rarely will take over in moments of extreme distress or danger, sending him into a blood rage that makes it difficult to distinguish friend from foe, something the party first witnessed when fighting a handful of druids after leaving the Tribe of the Roots. Kyt mentioned that prior to this incident, he had not had an outburst in this way for over a decade.

Relationships

Kyt easily feels the strongest bond with Mills, and he is fiercely protective of her in times of danger. On multiple occasions, Kyt has revealed things to Mills that he might not have revealed to other party members, such as his troubled past or his inability to read. He feels like the two of them have had an unspoken bond from the beginning of their journey together, and since Mills has revealed that they might be related in some way, the bond has only strengthened—hence why he was so upset that Avinta attacked Mills shortly after the battle with the druids. Kyt isn’t quite sure how to feel about Reverence. He thinks they could be very good friends, but right now, it is offputting to him that she is so immediately distrusting of everyone she meets. He tried to convey this to her while the party stayed with the Tribe of the Roots, but so far it doesn’t seem like much of it has gotten through to her, and he only hopes she takes his words to heart. Cordelia has a personality that is entirely perplexing to Kyt. He understands her moral compass, but he hasn’t exactly seen it extend past where the law ends, which deeply frustrates him. He doesn’t understand how she can speak out against some injustices but turn a blind eye to others. He has, however, noticed her growth, even in the few weeks they’ve known each other, and hopes that one day they can be good friends. Tryse and Trid seem like the natural caregivers of the group. While he confides most in Mills, he is extremely grateful that both times Kyt has broken down in front of the group, either one or both of them was there to sit with him and bring him back to reality. It is nice to have a calming voice of reason in the chaos sometimes.   Before meeting his current traveling companions, Kyt had a strong familial connection with a few members of his tribe (notably Yunthir, the tribe elder, and Kaelimm, a spunky young half-orc boy). He originally set out to find Kaelimm and at the very least make sure he is safe, which he eventually conveyed to the rest of the party, but recent revelations have battered his spirit. Additionally, in a heavy conversation with Mills, he revealed that he at one point had a best friend around his age, but he ended up taking their life, though it is unclear if this was intentional or accidental.
