Dinastia, Soul of the Coast

Grandkeeper Princess Dinastia Yiorevdea Yioreve Arindd Diogreba I

The Inudean Sector of Dinastia is famous for its great lakes of pale sand, for the nautical prowess of its people, and the great respect of profane traditions, much more so than any other Sector of Inudea. It's a place where the less powerful learned to cope with their fragility and face the dangers of death, but from their stories, a hero appears mysteriously and stands against the threat, no matter how dire. Tales of the Soul of the Coast, that of Princess Dinastia of Rantral, an imposing, argentine, warrior, patron of protection, keeper of Inudea.

History

Early Years: Fate

Born as a Tanith, daughter to King Thert II and Queen Niamon IV, Dinastia was the chosen heir to the throne of Rantral. From a young age, she was trained in all matters concerning monarchy and the ruling of a proud nation. Despite excelling in all these disciplines, she was mostly absent from the public eye and the peoples of the kingdom did not care much for their future queen. Contrary to some historians' opinions that argue that the princess preferred to live hedonistically in the comfort of the Royal Palace, her Tanith heritage had manifested in a particularly incisive way, causing her much pain.
While most Taniths develop sight capable of perceiving the soul, Dinastia saw in this empathic ability many burdens, that would pile up on top of her own fears of what becoming an adult meant, and the perspective of facing an entire life of uncertainty and the crushing reality of constantly seeing the dead.
As time went on and her responsibilities evolved, these fears grew, but so did her sense of responsibility. During her early 20s, Dinastia made the best of efforts to be an envoy for her parents and establish good relationships with the nobles of Rantral, managing to satisfy the needs of the people.

First Death: Fragility

by Juan Belío
On one such voyage, on an undocumented day of Towa of 1474 D.R, princess Dinastia and her entourage were on a plaza on the rightmost city of Darialn, Nedyias, having just negotiated with the governor of the region. An early dirigible transport called the I.S.T.Wings of Ivory experienced a malfunction on the gas deposit, which detonated the vehicle and sent the entire ship crashing into the ground, directly into the middle of the plaza. While there's not an exact estimate of the death count of the accident, approximations range from 200 to 350 casualties, including the princess and her followers.
Although the rescue patrols worked for weeks, the princess was found on the third day and delivered to the capital, to receive a proper funeral. Given that the body of the princess had been quickly recovered, the soul could still be reutilized. The King and Queen decided to infuse Dinastia's soul into a Golem, a somewhat recent development on funerary alternatives. In a moment when Golems were made basic with a single purpose or too expensive to be common, the Royal family spent a prohibitive amount of resources to bring their daughter back, which led Rantral straight into a period of instability.

Second Birth: Awakening

As the ritual was performed, Dinastia woke up in a new stone body, her vision still blurred by all the spirits she had seen before the blazes took her life. From that moment, she couldn't help but wonder why it was her that had a second chance, not after all the other people that had been forgotten and lost. She became increasingly distant from her monarchic duties, eventually rejecting the title and leaving her sister Yasien as heir, to seize the second opportunity she had been granted.
Not much of her initial journey is described accurately, but she did become trained in the arts of combat all across Barenae, being one of the first non-Nereidaians to master the art of Gytan. She had committed herself to be strong enough to overcome herself and then protect others. Many tales all around Barenae, which have survived through time, talk about a peculiar giant visitor, made of stone but contrarily passional and eager to experience new things. While many of these traditions are linked to the princess' passage, the route she followed since her departure from Inudea hasn't been reconstructed.

Heart of Sand

by Juan Belío
As she approached the last shores safe for the alive, people from all parts of Inudea followed her as the leader of the improvised army, destined to reconquer the isles.
At some point around 1620 D.R, far after her relatives had died, Dinastia returned to Nedyias. Rantral had become a conglomeration of noble houses, the crown toppled by the hungry barons, descendants of those who she had befriended. Fearful of her wrath, they plotted a way to capture and contain the Golem, but to their surprise, Dinastia did not care for them. She just kept her path towards Outer Nedyias, where the waters become infested with ghastly specters on accursed ships.   The Feathered Sand War would span across 300 years, on different levels of success, until the settlement of the Pearlite Belt on the outermost part of the Sector. Dinastia had been fighting for centuries and the only thing she had to regret was the loss of all those people who shared her vision and had given her the confidence she had been seeking before her death. She considered that it would be better for the people of Nedyias to not be constantly reminded of the conflict they had just won every time they saw her and that she was better off alone. With this in mind, she made the best effort she could to erase her tracks and faded into quietness, even if her reputation had already been set off to the path of becoming Inudeas' Hero.   To this day, she has survived as an eternal construct and still protects Outer Inudea fiercely.

Legacy

Dinastia's actions on the history of Barenae turned her into one of the most famous figures of Inudean history, and a central piece on the Creed. Her natal Sector, formerly known as Nedyias, took her name after she pushed away from the spectral armies that plagued Outer Inudea, freeing almost half of the territory. Recent records specify that this scourge is, to this day, being kept at bay singlehandedly by the princess. At some point before the Whirip Eran, her name started being preceded by the Grandkeeper of the Coasts title, referring to her unending contribution to the safety of the Dinastian people.   Her critics of the established order, especially during the first years of her rebirth, allowed for the kingdoms and territories of Inudea to favor systemic restructuration and take an approach much more beneficial to their people. To this day, Dinastia is regarded as a paragon of protection and the wish of doing whatever necessary to defend the innocent.   Although she is a real individual, the myth surrounding her feats grows larger with each historical marvel without a clear actor. These tales are further emphasized by the fact that, in actuality, nobody knows where the princess is. Wherever a denizen finds themselves in danger, she will appear and vanish just as fast.

In relation to others...

The Zephyr Empires

The Zephyr Empires were a menace to the entirety of Barenae, so many in Inudea wonder why Dinastia did not return in their time of need, feeling that this kind of situation would be that which could only be solved by a hero of great renown. Islecrian poems kept in Coalition archives previous to the dissolution of the Megevan implore the appearance of a "blessed bird of stone claws" and other similar quotes, which have been linked to the perception of Dinastia of the time.   While it's true that she did not interfere in the military conquest on the Inner Sector, the Zephyrians, who were not particularly experimented on naval warfare, found it impossible to expand towards the Outer Region of the Dinastian Sector. Any attempt was met by zealous islanders and inexpugnable fortresses. Many files document the sudden destruction of entire ships, that would be perforated from under, to reveal an enormous combatant of devilish eyes and indestructible skin. Many Zephyrians destined for this campaign referred to the figure as the "Jagged Phantom", an epithet that was lost with the Empires.

The Redeemers

The Redeemers are very much aware of Dinastia's deeds, as they are of all beings on Barenae. However, their relationship is far less cordial than with most other figures in the Creed. Dinastia, being a person of action, has never trusted the Ailans' neutral approach towards the biggest problems on Barenae as a whole, particularly since her inability to abandon the front against the specters forced her to stay on the Outer Sector, as the Zephyr freely invaded her beloved Inudea. She's especially scornful of the ArchGeist, who could have assisted with the ghost control during the war, but repeatedly chose to not get involved.

Wow she has a very original story! I find very interesting that she had died and rebirthed and that her existence is surronded by mystery making her a legendary character (she's like a Mulan for Inudea hehe). I loved seeing stained glass windows depicting different moments of her life and i like how you organized the information in columns and used the sidebar.

Explore the Kingdom of Moskova with me! Wonders and darkness await for you. Are you ready for the adventure?   Are you undecided about where to go on your vacation trip? Why don't you try to discover Ulan River with me?

I feel for her, it must have been very difficult to be revived and forced to endure for eternity that sense of guilt. Nice story, and nice presentation.
