Myrrhina Vespillo

Consul Myrrhina Vespillo

Myrrhina Vespillo is a philosopher and political theorist from the Republic of Aquitania, as well as the Consul of the Aquitanian Senate and leader of the syncretic Reformist faction. She's seen as a pragmatic and reasonable figure in the senate, even to the point of being openly admired by some members of the opposing Rationalist and Moralist factions despite their ideological differences.   Myrrhina has taken it upon herself to (naturally) reform the senate from within to dispell the republic's reputation of an elitist group of out-of-touch intellectuals and represent the people of Aquitania more equitibly than before.

Personal history

Born to an orcish refugee father from the Azzod Federation and a middle-class mother 5 years after the Aquitanian revolution, Myrrhina was born into a relatively stable family in the Republic of Aquitania. Myrrhina was a natural scholar from the moment she could read, and was given the best education her parents could afford at Alba's most prestigious academies.   After seeing the plight of the average citizen over the course of her life, she took special interest in politics and philosophy, after reacing the conclusion that many senators were simply elitist scientists, mages, artists and philosophers who did nothing but talk. She began developing a new syncretic ideology based on not only on those of the dominant Rationalist & Moralist factions, but even radical beliefs like the ultra-egalitarian tenents of Thorgan Petrov's Order of the Red Star, creating a strain of thought that would later become the centrepiece of the new Reformist faction.   The Reformist school of philosophy is a system based in egalitarian representation in government, and expanding it down to all citizens: an idea seen as radical by the mainstream factions in the senate, yet not radical enough by the Red Star. Despite (or perhaps because of) the backlash aimed at Reformism by the intelligencia of Aquitania, the average citizens of the republic are more than thrilled with the philosophy, and has become a prominent force for change at home and even abroad.   The Reformists quickly gained influence in the senate under her leadership and promises of actually getting done what needed to be done, shaking up the political establishment significantly and leading to them eventually gaining the majority in the senate at the end of 1246 HA, as well as the declaration of Myrrhina as Consul.   Myrrhina has declared that her consulship shall lead to better living conditions, improved infrastructure and a major extension of Aquitania's growing multiculturalism, though the complex machinations of the senate will ultimately decide whether the young consul's plans will become a reality.

Social

Religious Views

Myrrhina is comittedly secular, borderline anti-theistic. She openly condemns both the Astarask Orthodoxy, as well as the Church of Zenith as a whole for their percieved draconian control of the known world. While tolerant of other faiths within the republic for the most part, Myrrhina is still hesitant to truly accept such beliefs to spread.

"Some say the Aquitanian Revolution is in the past, that our grand republic; upon which the virtues of freedom of thought and faith it was founded some 35 years prior; is destined to end. They are wrong, my fellow senators; for the revolution has barely begun."
